Naim NAC282 Need Help

I just purchased a NAC282 to replace my XS2. I have a Hi-CAP and NAP200.
I connected both to the Hi-CAP exactly the same way I connected my XS2 and added the NAPSC power to the NAC282. The Hi-CAP is connected via the 5-pin cable to the 5-pin port labeled “Upgrade 1.” I connected my DAC to the CD RCA input. No Sound.
Attached is the diagram I used. Any suggestions?

I asked ChatGPT AI to generate a diagram for me and this is what it generated. Not far from the truth! LOL. Connecting Naim components is complicated!

You need to choose RCA

What do you mean? Can you please clarify?

Assuming you have the wiring correct and that the mute button isn’t selected, have you enabled the RCA input?

Hopefully that helps.

You need to choose RCA instead of Din
explained in the manual

The manual that would have come with the 282 is pretty clear on 1) how to wire up whether using HCs or using a nap200 for example. And 2) how to switch between RCA and din for inputs 1 and 6.

To “enable program mode” is this done only with the remote? I haven’t used the remote at all. I assume I just need to select “CD” or “AUX2” on the front panel of the NAC282. Is there more I need to do and can this be done from the front pannel without the remote?

Use the remote.

Wow! This is sooooo unintuitive! I guess I should have read the manual better. Thank you for your help!

Naim want you to use the better DIN inputs

Don’t worry, I have to read the manual every time I need to do something like this! Even then, it don’t always get it right first time!

I keep my manual under the rack. With the relevant pages’ corners turned down for quick referance.

I used the remote to set input mode and it appeared to successfully select CD RCA input, but still no sound. I assume I can plug the output from my DAC to the RCA connectors labeled “CD”? There must be some cabling issue. The only difference between the diagram I shared and my setup is instead of NAP 250 I have a NAP 200. Any suggestions? BTW, I can successfully replace the 282 with my XS2 and that works without changing the connections to the NAP 200 or rest of the system.

I take it you have the paddle link plug in place on the 282 as per your first post ?

Yes.

Are there RCA to DIN connectors? My DAC only supports RCA.

Yes but it’s better to use the RCA’s if you have a source with RCA.

When I compared the same I/c in either RCA-RCA or RCA-DIN (both Chord chrysalis) I preferred the latter going in to my NAC552.

Could be that you prefer cut off frequencies in your system.
