I have a Naim NAC 32 with what appears to be a faulty output drive, switch on PCB relay card- NA325
Can anyone help me ?
Thank you for your assistance.
You can sometimes pick up secondhand cards from Naim dealers who may have them knocking about in a drawer, or from the usual auction sites, but it might be best to have it serviced. The factory can still service the NAC32, but if you’re outside the UK then it’s a little more difficult. Have you take n it in to your nearest Naim dealer so they can take a look? They may even have some old spare cards somewhere..
Thank you Richard. I am a long way away from the UK, down under Aussieworld south west corner. I have contacted a Naim service agent and he has actually advised me to go through this community as my best chance for a replacement. I guess that is what I am looking for some old spare cards wherever it may be. As you are aware the card is small fits easily into a small envelope and should be able to be posted and is easily refitted into the card slot. Cheers and regards.
Well, forum rules means that posting wants or offering up any items here, whether for free or not, is strictly prohibited . Hence, my advice to you to keep an eye out in the usual places, or ring/email around some well established Naim dealers who may have some still.
As you’re in Australia, in the old days, Vince Ross would have been my immediate go-to; I remember visiting his place out in Perth and opening a door into one of his “store rooms”. It was a big room and it was piled high with old Naim and linn kit. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many old Sondeks in one place! So, there’'s a lot of old kit out there somewhere.. You could try contacting Andrew at Surrounds in Perth and see what he may have or know about? Otherwise, you could email Harry and Norman at Audio Genesis out in Pyrmont and se whether they have anything suitable.
Thank you Richard. I bought my NAIM and Linn equipment from Vince Ross in the 80’s. I believe he has retired now further south than where I live. I will follow up on your leads, thank you greatly appreciated. I have posted in the hope to get some leads, that is what I am after. I am not looking for freebies…and certainly have no intention to rock any forum rules…or the like. Cheers.
I’d get in touch with Andrew then and see what he can sort out for you.
Thank you Richard. I have sent out emails as per your suggestions and see how I go. Any suggestions in the UK where there is probably a higher likelihood of some old kit? Cheers.
There are so many Naim dealers in the UK it’s hard to know where to start; possibly Start with say, Grahams, or try Tom Tom Audio, or Cymbiosis, or Infidelity, or Billy Vee, or Soundcraft, or… (you see where this is going - I’m sure other members will post their own recommendations)
Hmmm… thank you all quiet foreign to the substance between my ears. But quite humorous nonetheless.
Search the UK dealers, TomTom in St Albans and of course the Naim approved service centre at Class A who may be able to help.
Thank you Bruss, I am trying to do as you have suggested and contacted some UK dealers no luck so far. It would be nice to get a temporary fix but I am a layman and would need some assistance when it comes to a replacement ( even though the card is a simple one) I am not sure about the components. To remove and reinsert is easy enough. Regards.
It is possible that the time delay relay is paralysed due to a fault in the control capacitor, which has become too old. The price is low with this type of capacitor.
Thank you Alto, helpful, I will try and get some detail/specification on the capacitor replacement. Cheers.
