Naim Nait 50

I originally purchased a Linn LP 12 with Ittok 11 and Naim Nait 1 with Linn Kan speakers
A fabulous entry system that lasted for years until marriage and children forced reluctant sale.
30 years later I endeavoured to embark on finding a suitable replacement hoping that a streamer would offer similar enjoyment.
After a lot of searching I settled for the Naim Uniti Atom and Focal floorstanders which to be honest never had me foot tapping and lacked that wow factor, they were promptly packaged up and returned.
I was then left with an empty feeling wondering if I would ever find that music wow factor again.
So the final purchase after much You Tube and online reviews I purchased the Eversolo A6 master edition with a Naim Nait 50 this was fed to my old Wharfdale diamond 9.1 75th Anniversary speakers.
The result is wow, absolutely fantastic sound, even from the weakest link speakers.
I am absolutely blown away with the open sound stage along with tight articulated bass.
Long term will look to upgrade the speakers but for now couldn’t be happier.

Sounds great. Just sit back and enjoying rediscovering your favorite tracks/albums! Worry about a speaker upgrade later.

Hi @Leggyfoot wonderful if you found a good solution for yourself with the Nait50. I also switched from the Uniti Atom to the Nait50 (with ND5XS2 + NDac / XPS) last year. I can only confirm your experiences. It is a different, significantly higher level and I am also happy about the change. However, I also had some years of enjoyable listening hours with the Atom. With a few tweaks (setup, cables, etc.) it sounds really good and is probably always sensationally good in terms of price-performance ratio. I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but there’s a big thread about the Nait50 with over 4,700 posts to date (Click here) and a thread comparing Nait50 and Atom (Click here). . Your impressions would probably be of interest there as well. I think it’s also useful for everyone not to have too many threads on the same topic. Enjoy your Nait50!

Hi Wilfred
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
I would like to know what like minded people would recommend in the speaker upgrade?
I would be interested in purchasing second hand to hopefully bag a bargain with a top notch speaker that has been forgotten by the never ending release of latest speakers.
As I said I loved the Kan’s and preferred the tight articulated bass I can’t stand a booming bass, just my preference not a criticism of anyone who enjoys that type of sound. It is after all a very personal journey that we hifi enthusiasts take.
I want a good sound stage with glorious open highs and clear mid range with a tight fast bass.
Please give me recommendations up to £1000 second hand and £2000 new.

Here you go…

Hi @Leggyfoot as mentioned by @Jamiewednesday above there is a separate thread about the Nait50 and loudspeakers. You find much informations there. Basically, the Nait50 can drive almost all loudspeakers. Less recommended are extremely inefficient loudspeakers or those with an extremely low minimum impedance. And the Nait50 is less suitable for party volume or very large rooms. Every loudspeaker manufacturer has his own sound signature and the differences are very large. It also depends not least on your own taste. Otherwise, the interaction between the room and the loudspeaker is very important. This depends on the size of the room, its flexibility for setting up the loudspeakers in the room, and also on the individual room damping. In my case (a rather small room of 17 square metres), improved room acoustics (with GIK Acoustics elements) brought a huge improvement, even without changing the loudspeakers. I don’t know how big your room is and what options you have. In any case, I would try to listen to loudspeakers at the dealer and, if at all possible, try them out at home in advance. Otherwise, there is a very high risk that you will not be satisfied in the end. And if you are satisfied with the Kan’s, why would you want to change?

An update on the speakers, I have just ordered the Q Acoustics Custom 300 with stands.
They are on a 30 day trial so will let you know how I get on.
