Naim NAIT XS pre owned

Hello from Sweden.

I have purchased a used Naim Nait XS. Serial number says it is made 2009. Is it a good idea to send it to Naim for service? I read some people do it. I guess it is not cheap. There is nothing wrong with it.

There is some hum from the transformer from time time to time. I have read on this forum and it happens sometimes. I tried with a Dc blocker from Audiolab and it stops the hum but I lose some sound quality in my opinion.

I think the recommended service interval for classic gear is 12-15 years, so could be a good idea for the factory to give it a once over if you’re planning on keeping it for a long time.

Send the Nait in for service. You will be happy with the difference. It may eliminate your hum as well.

Service is always a good idea, however its not cheap any longer.

Maybe consult your dealer about this, My dealer couldn’t really foresee handle time from EU to UK back to EU, when I asked for a service.

BTW transformer hum sometime is solved by install a separate and powerfull mains.

Do you know approximately what it could cost.? Or it depends what they will do?
I talk to my Naim dealer.

Question aimed at me ?
I quoted a Unitiqute service which was more than €800-900.
Not viable in my case, sold it and went with Atom.

XS might be different, there is a UK pricelist in another thread, maybe you can find it ?

You can have your amp serviced within the EU.

I’ve send one of my amps - and drove 3 of my amps from the Netherlands to LASA in Italy who are a Naim authorised service point.

It’s far easier to do this and I don’t understand why people keep mentioning sending amps from the EU to the UK since this is not needed.

Also, Naim distributors tend to be able to service your amp, but thats different per region.

Yes but everyone is welcome to answer.

Actually I discussed this with my local distributor, while they agreed in the scenario which I’d rather avoid, no other help offered.

I’d be perfectly happy with say the German Naim distributor doing the job.
Sort of feel this should or could be arranged by my local distributor, not directly myself.(although I would do it if necessary)

I am not sure how Naim support these arrangements.

Ok I check here at home first.

By the way I tried a different wall socket and the hum seem much better. Interesting…
