Hi, I need some advice. I currently have a Naim NAP 250 NC + Eversolo dmp a10. I’m wondering if it makes sense to check out the NSC 222. Has anyone had this setup? Is the Eversolo as good as the NSC 222?
I’m imagining that not many people would have made a comparison between the two. The Eversolo is quite a machine.
I’m sure that the natural synergy between the two Naim components and the option of a further power supply upgrade would be great. Whether the substantial increase in cost would be worth it to you, even if a good improvement can be gained, I guess no one could say.
My 9yr old daughter got a DMP A6 for Xmas and I compared it to my Atom HE into a 332/300/250. I appreciate the A10 is better spec. However the A6 was significantly less good than the Atom. Very good for the price, but much flatter soundstage, less PRaT, less defined instruments. Would I have been happy with it in the system? No. Is my daughter happy with it in her bedroom? Yes, very much so.
I had Naim atom HE. very good device with typical naim signature. Dmp a10 is better device, more resolving. you can’t compare dmp a6 to atom - it’s completely different price range.
I think I made that clear?
The only way to hear what’s best is to go and have a listen. I would imagine that the Eversolo at the price point would be close in quality to the nsc222, which as @jobseeker says can be further upgraded by NPX300.
I looked at reviews of the Eversolo dmp A10 and the user interface and range of features looks amazing. Room correction, equaliser and good range of connections and app.
But does it sound as good as NSC222? I couldn’t tell you.
The thing I find about Naim is it’s an ecosystem and often sounds great with Naim kit.
I think getting a demo at a dealers or at home is the only way you’re going to be able to decide. I have an A8 in another system and love its sound and functionality but have not hooked up to my NC250. You must only have bought A10 recently so imagine the reasons you did this rather than go for 222 still apply. Not come across your set up before, most that stray from 222 go with Linn. At this level it boils down to your taste - I went to my dealer last year and heard dCS Rossini into active ATC 20’s but preferred my 222/300/250 + D20Rs. I’m not saying it’s better I just preferred it. Good luck.
