hello everyone, please advise. I recently bought a Naim nap 250 power amp (new Classic 200) and as a preamplifier I use Naim Uniti atom headphone Edition - Focal Kanta no2 speakers. I admit that it played wonderfully but appetite grows with eating. I am thinking about Focal sopra no2. my question / will nap 250 have no problem driving sopra? I already had such a situation when Naim Uniti nova was not able to drive Kanta no2. please give me your opinion
The 250 will power the Sopras well enough, the question is are the Sopras the right speaker for your room.
Keep the Kantas, that’s plenty of speaker for a 250. If you want “more” look for a better preamp.
I changed the preamp to eversolo dmp a 10. It’s better than atom HE
my living room is partially open and is about 50 m2, the listening space is about 36 m2
If you love your kanta then Sopra will be similar but way better.
Focal speakers are brilliant for me
You said you have an Atom HE and now you say you have an Eversolo. Confused?
I’ve had both preams recently, I’m sticking with d-10, it’s simply better
If that’s the case, then the Eversolo F10 amplifier might be a better match with their preamp. If you want to keep the Naim 250, then I’d look at the NSC222.
The Sopra really matches best with amplification of a higher level than that you are contemplating. A 333, 332 and 350s would be a good match. If you want to keep the 250 I’d stick with the Kanta and get a 222.
Unbalanced setup in my opinion.
The usual mistake many do.
Sopra is terrible analytical in my experience - definitely try first.
Magic for some, nightmare for others.
I’d pick some serious loudspeakers instead, fx Neat, Kudos, Naim, Ophidian, Linn to name a few.
Your preamp will then be the weak link, think Nac 332 instead.
it so happens that I tested the NSC 222, I currently have one for sale. I don’t think it’s a higher quality preamp, definitely comparable to the a10. Considering the price and signature, I’m sticking with the eversolo. Have you heard the a10?
No.
