Naim NDAC - Advice Please

I am a huge fan of nDAC too.
NDAC went to second system recently - together with nd5xs2.
XPs will follow as soon, as I have space connecting a forth mains cable:o)

Specs mean nothing……your ears will be the only test.

Closer to CDS3.

It won’t be as good as a CDS3. It isn’t as good as a CDS2.

I’ve had a CDS 3, CDP555 and a Sony CDP777ES coupled to an Ndac/555PS. In my system/room the latter (Sony) was better than the CDS3 but not as good as the CDP555. A lot will depend on the PS you use with the Ndac I think.

A lot will also depend on the transport fronting the DAC. Don’t just assume that any transport will do.

I too have a Meridian 200 transport which feeds into the Digital input of my NDS/twin power supplies, one being a 555DR (Socket1).

The 200 transport sounds excellent, despite its 25-years+ age.
Playback of the CDs vs the ripped version is very hard to identify.

There was also a Meridian 602 transport, as their flagship.
Now replaced with the 800 series.

There are plenty of good CD transports available 2nd hand, such as Wadia, dCS, Krell, Mark Levinson, Métronome etc. Many would have have been true high-end and now affordable if just looking to play CDs.
