Hi all,I have a Naim NDX 2 with a small dent/damage to the front fascia. Last year I contacted Naim about replacing the fascia and was told it could be done for a very reasonable cost.I sent the unit to them in May, but unfortunately they’ve now advised that they no longer offer this service as the NDX 2 has been discontinued.I’m a bit disappointed, as apart from the cosmetic issue the streamer is in excellent condition. To be honest, I’ve started looking at newer streamer options.Has anyone has any ideas where to maybe purchase the new fascia? Thank you

AFAIK, the anodised fascias are not something that Naim would normally keep re-stocked once discontinued and stock exhausted as demand for replacements hardly exists. From what I recall during my time at the Naim factory, the service dept did tend to hold good seconds bits as and when they appeared but they are few and far between as Naim kit rarely if ever gets scrapped. So It’s a shame you missed the boat there, but if Naim can now no longer supply a new replacement fascia then your only other option would be to ring round dealers to see what spare parts they may have from a damaged machine or keep eyes on places such as eBay, but you may be waiting a while. Otherwise ask your dealer to chat with their Naim rep and let them know if anything crops up. It shouldn’t need the machine to go back to Naim - your dealer should be able to swap the facia over without too much diiifculty I would have thought.

Is it something that could be repaired by an expert crafts person?
I don’t know where I’d start (jeweller maybe) but perhaps google can make some suggestions.
I’d also not be able to ‘unsee’ any blemish but equally I’d not want to part with my NDX2.
Perhaps a picture of the damage may prompt some further suggestions

Isn’t the fascia of the NDX2 the same as that used on the ND555? If so, you should ask and search for either, thereby doubling the potential chance of success.

If the 555 really is the same, what’s to stop Naim using a 555 fascia on an NDX2? I’d be asking that specific question of Naim.

I don’t know whether they are exactly the same behind, but they do look identical from the front. Certainly a question worth asking.
When my old NDS was off for replacement screen, the fascia got damaged at Naim. They managed to replace the fascia after several months wait. They had to source one which took some time as the unit was no longer made.
The other thing is, can you live with slight damage. I have recently purchased a Gold Marantz SA10 and there are some minor scratches to the top plate. Initially disappointed to see the marks, after being told it was mint, I have accepted the used purchase and it will be only be me who notices the marks.
I am very particular about things but small marks do happen unfortunately. It is law of chaos. A few months back I went for a hospital appointment in my brand new VW ID4 and came back to a dink in the wing. A few years ago I would have repaired it immediately. I have decided to leave it as it is!
Question is therefore can you live with the fascia damage?
Some of my many Naim 500DR series have slight scuffs or nicks.
If it’s a small nick I have used matt black car paint and built up the edge of the fascia with a a small brush. It takes your eye off it. Now I can’t even see it.
I know it’s really annoying to have imperfections. Good luck with getting it sorted out. Picture of damage would help with suggestions on possible slight fix, or improvement.

When i worked at Ford motor company, there was a guy at Dagenham plant who was known as Singh the ding ( a lovely indian guy)…..who could remove dents for a small payment…..in minutes.
Fast forward, and my youngest daughter has managed to find via social media a guy who did some dents on her Ford ST for relatively little money. The one that got me was she needed 3 alloy wheels refinishing due to kerb and pothole damage……£50 each. I thought they would look horrendous, could not tell they had been damaged or repaired. So Dan, your car could be repaired, and as i posted earlier a pic of the NDX2 fascia damage could give us a clue as to is it worth repairing. The guy who did the dents came to our house, these people are out there.

I know the dent can be repaired. I think the point I am making is to live with it it!
I am definitely on OCD spectrum, so for me living with a small dent and minor imperfections is an accomplishment!
I have just had my conservatory re-roofed with a solid aluminium tiled imsulated roof so what with work and getting that room finished, and organising hifi mains the dent to the car is bottom of the pile!
Oh and solar panels coming to BD Towers very soon!

I also asked Naim if they can use NDX anniversary fascia, but last reply from Naim service was just like : no means no

Hi all, thank you for your replies. I was thinking about finding sole specialist who can help, but same time is it worth it?
Its more about selling it, don’t think people will buy it trusting nothing is wrong with it.
Personally I’m a Naim fan, but in streaming avenue, they not investing in any new upgrades and technology. My dealer said they been bought up, and going through some reorganisation and bit of a struggle.

Naim are npt going through any struggle. They have gone under different ownership but have been before.
The damage is bad and you need a new fascia, will make it difficult to sale otherwise.
Knowing how it is built, it is a difficult repair. It needs to be done by metal work aluminium specailist to have strength on the corner.
My NDS went similar to that on the corner and it looks nasty!

You should ask your dealer again for the chance to get it replaced with an nd555 fascia.
Wow. I’m amazed Naim can’t replace that for you. It’s not like the NDX2 was discontinued many years ago.
Light taps with a small metal workers’ hammer with cloth on the fascia would probably sort that out so it’s not noticeable.

Tried that, is going nowhere. Also, don’t wont to force it to much, worried to break the window.
