Naim Ovator S600 vs. S400

Hi Max,
The reason could be right due to pre production tuning.
Me, and Max B have noticed this, particulary with early S400s.
I still remember first year of launch at Milan Top Audio, 400s connected with, if my memory is correct with high level classic system, being pretty flat and opaque. The following year, driven by a Unitilite, were much more lively and sparkling.

Yup, thatā€™s possible. IIRC Naim spent a long time trying to tune the S600s just right so my impressions of them may well not be applicable to later production units.

That must have been the pair I ended up with! Lasted a few months of endless fiddling with position to try and get them to click.

The S400 lasted a good few years and had we not moved to a ā€˜downsizeā€™ house I might still have them.
