Naim Star HDD rip problem

Hi, I’ve had my Naim Star for 2 years and have not previously had a problem ripping CDs to a Samsung 1TB SSD. However it has now stopped allowing me to rip, message on the display is ‘No music store is configured or the store is full’. The SSD is less than half full. In the Manage music stores I’m getting the message ‘Do not use as music store’. It still plays fine. I have ripped from the Star to the SSD and have also transferred files from my PC. Any suggestions please?

Transferring the files from your PC might have messed up the indexing. I don’t know the Star at all, but it’s a lot similar to the Core, which I do know. I think I would go into the Star home page in the app and look for an option to “Rebuild the Music database” or similar in Settings.

That might fix the issue on its own. Also in Manage Music, can you find an option to re-allow using that SSD as the Music Store? You can do it in the Core. There is never a problem playing from a Music Store even if it’s not active. It’s just treated as a Music Share.

Whilst you can reconfigure a music store and keep the existing music, I would back up all your files first and then reconfigure your music store. I had to do this once and the files were all kept as there is an option to keep existing files in the “Configure Music Stores” section of the app. If memory serves, you have to go through a few steps before you get to the option to configure again. When I did it all the files were kept but even so, as I suggested before, worth backing up all your files first just in case. The other way of doing it is to configure your back up drive as the music store, choosing keep your existing files option again. If you do this you won’t be able to use the original SSD as the music store, well I couldn’t when I replaced a smaller music store with a larger one.

I have a star and had no problems . First thing I would do is connect hd to a computer and back up.
Then in system setting manage music I would rebuild the database.
It will also tell you in there how full the drive is.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I already had everything backed up, so reconfigured the SSD via the Star (which wiped all the music) and then rebuilt it from the PC, seems to have worked so far.
