The Naim Uniti Atom Headphone Edition comes with an XLR pre-out, which I assume is new to Naim? In my previous experience, Naim products have always connected through DIN. My question is: does Naim make any XLR interconnects that would allow me to connect the Atom HE to a Class A amp I have on hand to drive some very demanding headphones?
I love that Naim handles its own upgrades, allowing me to maintain the signature Naim sound that I’ve greatly enjoyed while listening with the Atom HE itself.
Yes, it was a bit of a departure from the usual DIN outputs. The Statement amps support balanced connections (as did the 250 Pro) and the latest New Classic range now offer balanced connection options.
If your Headphone amp has balanced XLR inputs then there are plenty of options regarding balanced cables. The Atom HE XLR outputs use standard balanced pin configurations.
If you do want to look at the Naim XLR cable option, then Naim does offer XLR Superlumina cables… but at a hefty price.
I have my HE connected to active speakers using a pair of Mogami cables that I bought from Designacable. They were about £60, complete with nice Neutrik XLR connectors. You don’t need to pay more.
