Has anyone tried to play or copy the CD ripped files from the Uniti Core to something like the Eversolo? I ask because I am having even more trouble with the Uniti Core software and it is time for me to find a better and workable solution. Any tips would be very appreciated.
I’ve made the rips I’ve taken from my Core (which are stored on my NAS) available to my Roon server, which has been able to pick up the metadata from the newer rips I’ve made to FLAC.
The older rips made to WAV (from when I had a Uniti-Serve) don’t contain metadata, and in most cases Roon was able to associate metadata from online sources.
An Eversolo will be able to play the files (WAV or FLAC) no problem, but if you’ve got WAV files, the lack of metadata could be a hassle for your music library. It’s pretty easy to fix with a metadata editor (such as MP3tag), or you could use Song Kong to automate the addition of metadata (I’ve used both to good effect)
Before you give up on the UnitiCore, what are the problems you are having? Unless they have an actual fault, the software normally works well.

Jono8, thank you. David, thank you for asking. Firstly, know that I am terrible in my understanding of the software for the Core. I’ve never tried to fully get it and I don’t. My doing, not Naim. I don’t even fully get what a store is, for example. Can you have two stores – one for CD rips and one for my own recordings which involved no rips and are just straight WAV files. Let’s not go there for now. For now, I’ve had so many glitches and errors I’ve lost track. The latest was that the newest ripped CDs don’t show up on “Newest CDs”. I don’t really care that it is doing that, but it is a glitch. Then tracks (songs) picked for a playlist disappeared. Then when I picked a playlist to listen to the Naim took hours to find all the songs and load them. Also, the ability to delete files from a playlist disappeared. These are just some of them. I did reboot fully, but today I remembered I had these instructions from you and just carried them out. I’m waiting for a few hours to see if it helps. Let’s see if that works. Or if you know a more drastic but not risky set of steps, I’ll try it. Thank you David.
“No problem! I think you might want to try a factory reset. It doesn’t affect anything on the internal hard disc at all.
You do it by putting the Core to sleep by pressing the standby button for 5 secs or so. Then take the mains power off completely. Then restore the mains power while holding in the front panel button, keeping it pressed in until the light by the front panel USB socket flashes, then take your finger off the button and let the Core finish starting up. You will have to go into setup and define the music store (where the Core stores it’s rips) and any music shares again. The Core should say that it found a music store and ask if you want to use it (or make it active or some such wording). You say yes obvs. Don’t agree to format the internal drive, also obvs.
The Core will then reindex the music which will take a while, say up to an hour for the amount you have. You can see where this has got to in the album listing by going all the way to the bottom where it will tell you the number of albums indexed so far. You could check the number before you start…”

I did the factory reset, and all appears fine(ish), but now all my playlists are gone. Completely. But the newest CDs are now correct and back. Hopefully, you know something I can do, such as rebuild the database overnight or something like that. As a note, I have some 2700 albums loaded onto the internal HD I installed in the Naim. I haven’t given up on the Naim yet. But it sure is quirky. Getting my playlists back would be nice. As a note I do have the Naim internal HD fully backed up on an external drive., if it comes to that. Thanks, David.
My Core playlists have disappeared it is a known problem and Naim are looking into this matter.

Thank you. I can live without the playlists. I had too many anyway. I’ll make new ones as needed. but to my original question: Has anyone successfully and easily transferred from the Uniti Core to Eversolo or anything else?
I think you need to clarify what you mean by this; ie access Core content using UPNP , should just work or copy/import the Core’s files to the Eversolo’s internal storage if installed?

Are the Core playlists not restorable from backup like they are on the Unitiserve?
Do not create any new playlists from music stored on the Core till this issue is resolved. As a trial I created a new play list it listed all the tracks and played fine however the next day it had disappeared on my iPad but when I opened the app on my Mac mini M4 the new playlist was showing it played and also then showed up on my iPad but has since vanished ???
Hi, The issues with the playlists is definetely due to the app. I noticed issues some time ago and spoke with Naim, they said I had found a bug. I think there have been a couple of app updates since, the current version 8.2 (15574) is by far the worst it has got. I have a lot of playlists on my Uniticore, they have disappeared, come back sometimes with only a few tracks, generally they are non existent! on my iPad which is on 8.1, they work ok, not sure if the issues with playing tracks by pressing the album art still works? I also have an old phone which I had kept for using with my system. I got it charged and it is on 7.5, not sure how old it is, the playlists are fine with no issues. From what has been said on this forum, Naim are aware and I am sure will fix it soon. I don’t know anything about the Eversolo, however having had the Core for a few years I love it, probably not the most intuitive regarding software, but does the job, since I bought mine I have started buying CD’s again.
Thank you. I didn’t know it was a known problem but that helps. I decided the heck with the playlists for now. I’ll doubt Naim will fix the bug so I’m not counting on it or making playlists anymore.

I mean transfer the internal Uniti/Core wav files to either the internal drive of the Eversolo or hook up an external drive with the Naim wav files/metadata which then gets hooked up to the Eversolo. My local Naim dealer says it can be done.
One approach might be to make a Backup of the Core’s files to a USB hdd or ssd and then, attaching it to the Eversolo, import the files to the latter’s internal storage…….
I used that method to import files from an Innuos Zenith to my Core.
Just a thought. Just another thought - if your deal says he can do it, then let him……

The playlist issue is relatively new, and Naim are working on it.
Glad Naim is working on a fix for the playlist bug. And my dealer says it will work with either an external drive hooked up to the Eversolo or going right to the internal drive. So we’ll see. I may or may not do it but if I do I’ll report here. Knowing the playlist bug is known about helped me settle down about abandoning the Naim Uniti Core.
I believe I’m right in saying that if you copy the files across you’ll lose any metadata edits you might have made.
