Naim Uniti Freezes when using Tidal Connect

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been experiencing recurring issues with my Naim Uniti Atom when using Tidal Connect. I don’t use Spotify, so I’m unsure if the problem extends to other services.

Initially, I noticed the issue occurred when I used the Naim Focal app to establish the Tidal Connect connection. Playback would work fine for a while but then freeze unexpectedly. To resolve this, I would have to perform a reset by holding the power button until the device rebooted (displaying the hills/waves screen) before it restarted normally.

After encountering this problem a few times, I switched to using Tidal Connect directly through the Tidal app, assuming the issue stemmed from the Naim Focal app. This seemed to work perfectly for about a week, even during extended listening sessions, but unfortunately, the same issue occurred again yesterday.

I’m wondering if the problem might be related to my setup, as the device is currently connected via Wi-Fi rather than an Ethernet cable. I plan to test a wired connection tomorrow to see if it makes a difference.

In the meantime, I wanted to reach out and ask if anyone else has experienced similar issues with Tidal Connect on the Uniti Atom? If so, have you found any solutions?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

There are cases (particularly after a firmware update) that a Naim device needs a power cycle. For this you need to disconnect the power plug from the wall for a few minutes. Certainly a simple test to try

WiFi shouldn’t be a problem, unless you are a long way from the wifi transmitter, but trying a hard connection is probably a good test

Thank you, I’ll try to give this a go. As soon as I bought the Atom it went through a firmware update but I didn’t remove it from the mains. I’ll try to, as you instructed, let it go through a power cycle and see if that helps.
