Naim Uniti Nova + Nap 250

Good day to all :), I have a Naim Uniti Nova, I wanted to temporarily connect Nova with Nap 250 (new Classic 200) / of course after some time I will replace it with NSC 222 but this is a temporary solution. What cable and how to make this connection? Please help

I think this is what you want. It’s on eBay but we are not allowed to make links.

I’d feel happier if @Richard.Dane would take a quick look and confirm.

That cable looks like it should work here.

Thanks Richard. Obviously it won’t actually be a balanced connection. It’s only £65 and the Chord Chrysalis is a good cable for Naim. So I’d suggest @Wito963 grabs it while available. It will be possible to sell it on later, when the 222 arrives.

thank you very much for your help

Obviously it would be sensible to ask the seller whether it is indeed for balanced XLR rather than the single ended XLR that was used on classic amps. If not sure, don’t buy.

And by the way, will such a set upgrade - purchase of NAP 250, result in improvement? I have come across opinions that Naim Classic has good sound but a bit lacking in bass.

That’s certainly not my experience.

We have compared a Nova (which is excellent) to ND5XS2/ 82/HC/250, and the latter won on more foot-tapping involvement and more grip on bass if turning it up a bit.

The biggest downside to adding a 250 to a Nova is probably that you’ll know that you could get more SQ if you swap the Nova for separates - even more boxes.

Other threads compare 250s. I like olive 250s a lot, but the 250DR is cleaner and quieter and has slightly better bass control.

Key with old power amps is servicing. A 250 that has not been serviced for 15+ years probably won’t sound right.

YMMV as always.
