Hi Group, I have a question if anybody has experience with. I currently own a Naim Uniti Nova (80watts). I can get a pair of SF Sonetto VIII for a really good deal. Do you think the amp has enough power to push those?
Thank you for your input.

My advice would be to bring your Nova with you to try on the Sonetto VIII.
I own Sonetto V driven by 282/HCDR/250DR and the amp drives them very well.
I started with 152XS/155XS which was fine, but my current combo has far better control on the bass drivers.
Haven’t tried 282/155XS, so can’t tell if the better control is from 282 or 250DR (probably both). Some dealers in France demo Sonetto V with a Nova, so a Nova should be fine with the Vs.
The VIII have 3 bass drivers so it might be ok but probably not optimal. However Sonus says that they have worked on the impedance load to make them easier to drive.
@IainO has tried SuperUniti, 250DR and 300DR on Sonetto III, and always perceived the improvements.
Again, if you can, try with your Nova and let us know if you do so!
On the last page of the test you can see the VIII impedance curve :
They dip to 2.7 ohms at 75 Hz.
I have a Nova driving Sonetto 3’s and love the combination.
I can see how the III would be a nice combination. The VIII on the other hand is much larger and more complex and I suspect a Nova would struggle to control it, especially as it’s a 4 ohm load. A 222/250 would be a much better match, as would a Nova PE.
HH has just beaten me to it. You asked the question @Petey1855 audition mandatory and realistically in your room / home.
The Nova is a good all in one, but it won’t bring out the best in such speakers.
Nova previously ran Ovator S400s here, which have some similarities to those proposed.
Exactly as HH suggested, the S400s now enjoy NSC222/NC250 combo.
Any thought to add a 250 to a Nova, it shows up the latters weaknesses, which are not evident when the Nova is suitably matched.
Worth considering, on new prices, is 1/3rd of budget on speakers and 2/3rds on streamer / pre, power combo. Important to stress, it is only a starting point, but 50% of new cost of Nova would be benchmark to first assess speakers, thereafter diminishing returns, ymmv.
Nova here now plays well with ProAc Tab 10 sigs, wall mounted.
Can you add an NAP200 to the Nova?
Thanks for the help
Yes, you can do this, but a 200 probably won’t make any difference. If you want the VIII speakers you’d be better with a 222/250. Alternatively, get speakers that work well with the Nova. Why not try the VIII and Nova and compare with using a 222/250.
