Naim Uniti Star with iPad/Phone

Hi All,

I typically use Quboz or Spotify (Quboz if I want to listen to an album, and they have it, or Spotify when I work from home where I can play a track, and it will quite happily play tracks I like all day. Quboz is a bit naff at this as after listening to AC/DC, it seems decide I’d like a bit of Kenny G or something). I have the Naim app installed on my iPad Pro 13” (6th Gen) and iPhone 16 ProLapse. I usually use the iPad for the bigger screen.

Am I better off using either the iPad or the iPhone for better quality? Would I benefit from a DAC such as the AudioQuest Dragonfly Cobalt (which I have seen recommended, and/or any other recommendations welcome!). How would this work?

I’ve also added a QB2 in the bedroom, although I’m not sure this is relevant for this question.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

The Naim app is only acting as a remote control, sending the signal from the router to the Star. So the device used has no bearing on sound quality.

And adding to what Mike says, you don’t need an Audioquest Dragonfly DAC if you are making Qobuz send the audio direct to your Star.

And if you are getting Qobuz to send the music to your iPhone and then sending it to your Star by AirPlay or Bluetooth or by a wired connection, then you are doing this the wrong way. You should sign into Qobuz from your Star and use the Naim app to select the music, not the Qobuz app.
