Naim with Bowers & Wilkins

The Hifi Corner needs to be kept totally free of unauthorised links to commercial sites. I allow them (within reason and subject to moderator veto) in other rooms.

Not anymore it seems. As I suspected itā€™s Michi, see for example the listing for the Dublin Audio Show that took place a couple of weeks ago.

A good point, marka, even without the links. Iā€™ve got quite a few classical CDs (Decca and Telarc in particular, but some DG too) where the booklet specifically states the recording was monitored and/or mastered using B&Ws.

Iā€™m sure some will claim this is pure commercialism and there are all sorts of backhanders going on behind the scenes, but I donā€™t think youā€™ll convince me they would be used so widely in professional contexts if they were dreadful.

(I appreciate that none of this has much bearing on how they may or may not sound with Naim kit)

Mark

Nobody said they were dreadful, but some didnā€™t like them with Naim. Itā€™s different.

I sure hope the new SN3/NDX2 combo has enough grip/control to handle the 805d3(Prestige Edition, my SO loves the look of them).

as FR says, not dreadful, but speakers, like cars, are a matter of taste.

The present generation of B & W 800 D3 and 802 D3 are almost the same size and weight. The main body is slightly bigger and heavier in the 800 and the two bass drivers somewhat larger. Thats from their brochure. Only Ā£5K extra for those with the funds and room to accomodate them. A side by side comparison would show the slightly greater size of the 800.
Speakers can be a Marmite choice for a lot of people. I like my 802 D3s. Biased, perhaps?
