I have recently bought a pair of the recently launched PMC Prophecy 1 stand mount speakers to use with my Rega P6 and Naim XS3. I can highly recommend giving them a demo, I’ve been more than impressed by them over the past several months.
PMC speakers are very good, though neither model you mention actually exists. Maybe you are thinking of the standmount twenty5.21i or the larger floorstanding twenty5.23i ? I used the former to good effect with a Nova, so your Nait should be ok. They will show the benefits of any future front end or amplifier upgrades you may make at a future date.
I’ve owned numerous ProAc speakers. If your room is a normal size the ProAc D2R is an excellent speaker. I had D20R but D30RS are better.
I can see that being a happy combination, congrats!
not sure if I mentioned it, but the AlChris Audio speakers worth consideration; they’re handcrafted in West Yorkshire and punch well above their price.
the current range is transmission line and very similar to PMC / KERR acoustics in their style and configuration, but Alan applies his secret sauce and I reckon they’re a step ahead of either Kerr or PMC, especially / no brainer att the price.
Enjoying my TX-9s as I type !
Hi, I am considering the Prophecy 1, could I ask how far apart they are and what distance you have them from the rear wall.
Regards
My listening room is fairly compact so I have the PMC’s around 16 inches from the rear wall and about 5 feet apart with a gentle toe-in. My listening position is 5 feet or so from the speakers. I think they can be placed fairly close to a back wall due to the front firing nature of the transmission line configuration. I have nothing but superlatives to say about them and can highly recommend a demo at the very least.
I am using Spendor A4.2 with my XS3 since December and I like the combination very much. But I would definitely not take my word for it. You really need to see what you can audition. It is so difficult to say anything useful about speaker / amplifier / room / positioning combinations.
Listened to the Prophecy 5 and 7 recently. Both deeply impressive, particularly the speed and solidity of the bass. Also no longer have the tipped up treble hype that the previous series (twenty25is) had. Pretty easy to drive from what I gather.
My smaller Prophecy 1 model was certainly an impressive listen, even right out of the box. I have had no trouble whatsoever driving them with my XS3.
