Nait 50 speakers

These are exdem with 3yrs warranty so not the full new 6yrs. Was yours?

Is this a special dealer warranty of some sort? Naim’s standard warranty has long been 2 years, increased to 5 years for the original purchaser, so there’s an extra year appeared in the deal, apparently.

My Nait 50 was ex-display.

Registered it just now. It says:

Date of purchase: 19/06/2025

Duration of legal guarantee: 24 months

Duration of extended warranty: 36 months

So I assume that’s 5 years…or maybe 3 years? It’s not very clear :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Sounds to me like the standard 2 years warranty, extended to 5.

As a fellow D33 owner how do you find yours? I really enjoy mine, especially since it came back from Arcam sounding better than ever.

Also, it will be interesting to hear how the Nait 50 compares with your ATC Sia2-100 - a similar price point at the original price for the Nait.

I’m not alone then!, i like it and had a few dacs on trial and after some recommendations on the pink forum i took a punt on one on ebay as they don’t seem to be available very often , and glad i did, a very natural sound that ousted my chord qutest. i appreciate the design with twin toroids etc, if only it were not quite so big!.
ill deffo report back and im hoping that the reported limited vol range is not an issue especially as the D33 puts out 2.2v.
what was wrong with yours or did you just get it serviced at arcam?

I use the USB input of mine for Tidal from a laptop. It feeds an XS3/Flatcap XS combination. Every upgrade in amplification that I have made reveals more of what the DAC is capable of - to be blunt it makes instruments sound more textured, real and three dimensional than any other source I have. The sound is very natural and spacious but also non-fatiguing: it makes listening to music an event.

Unfortunately mine developed a fault - as you say it has twin toroids and one of them failed - it would not switch on. I sent it to Arcam (through my local dealer) who replaced one of the toroids and it came back sounding better than ever. It cost circa £400 but it was money well spent as it works so well with the Naim amplification.

I have to say it’s astonishing with the N50, and the filters are now clearly different

Definitely one of the better DAC’s out there.
I owned it 6-8 years ago and regret it was sold on.

Even I settled on a Rega DAC/R nowadays, that Arcam was one of their finest products, really well build, rather affordable s/h and great they seem to be supported.

BTW, my CD period before Naim players did start up with a variety of early Arcam DAC/Transports.

Yes I can now clearly hear the difference between the three filter settings with the XS3/Flatcap combo - I have mine set to the ‘first LED’ if that makes sense? Sounds that little bit more punchy to my ears but I can happily listen with any of the settings selected.

I bought mine second hand about 5 years ago. Not cheap but excellent VFM IMO. Yes, according to someone who worked at Arcam when the D33 was developed, it was a ‘cost no object’ design and I think that clearly shows. Apparently the D33/A49 combination is quite something but I’ve never heard it - I’m more than happy with my main set-up now anyway.

Settled down this afternoon and spent some time with the NN50 ATC SCM11s….

They’re starting to settle in now. Reaching deeper and becoming more musical combined with that transparent soundstage.

Not too sure how much more they’re gonna give, been told anything up to 1000 hours to loosen up the SCMs…..But they are and do sound fantastic in my wee office. Beautiful !

I found after 100 hrs there was very little change. I do find however that the temperature makes a bigger difference, a day like today and they soundvmuch freer than when it’s cold.

Enjoy! , I luv mine and one thing to consider is to take off the back plate and convert to single wiring, easy 20 min job and no soldering as nuts n bolts. Makes them more coherent inmho.

Spot on, exactly my experiences with ATC and several other speaker makes

Yeah. That’s simple physics at play I suspect.

I’ll look into that thanks HFD
