Nait 50 standby mode

Yep, but the 350 carries the full microprocessor board which controls the PSU switching, inter product comms, display brightness etc. The NAIT keeps things really simple, with no microprocessor, just some simple logic switching to put it into standby after a period of no music.

Given that you change inputs and volume manually on the NAIT, I don’t really see it as a big deal to press a button to bring it out of standby (if you have the auto standby function enabled) when you want to listen to music.

@RSP I hope Naim get your 50 sorted out for you.

Thanks

It is to do with how much power can be consumed in 0.5W mode.

The NAP250 and 350 do not have input selection circuits. There are no input selection relays to power.

Nait 50 has input selection relays to power, as does the NAC332. These will only detect music while the unit is playing and auto power off.

The Nait has the same music-sensing function as a New Classic product with input selection, and the same as Uniti.

My feelings exactly. One of the nicest things about the N50 is the physical pleasure of using it. I know many on here have figured out remote solutions but the touch and sound of the buttons on the front as well the feel of the volume knob were part of the design, I believe. So using the “mains” button at the start and finish of a listening session fits in with that ethos, at least IMO.

Exactly this, maybe we are a minority but I too enjoy the interaction with this thing.

The interaction, tactility and absolute stripped back design combined with the incredible sound quality is why I bought 2.

However both remain permanently on, unless I decide to switch them off.
