That would be really nice. Something like an ND5XS2, but than in a Nait 50 like box.
Not going to happen. The market is flooded with other options.
I would definetly try the Brio MK7 if it were me and maybe even the Arcam A15, it’s getting great reviews or the A5, if you want a little less power.
I’m pretty sure the Arcam A15 will give me the same transformer humming. (due to its 80w power and therefor most like large toroidal transformer) Also, I never liked the looks of Arcam gear.
I expect the Brio mk7 to sound great with the Dali Oberon series, as the little IO already did a great job. (and a remote to adjust volume would be a very welcome bonus too)
Still, the Brio mk7 is not available at Rega dealers in my country yet, for the next few weeks, and although I might like the Brio mk7, I might also miss out on the Nait 50 discount deal.
I’ll think it over…
I heard it with the set up you are describing BlueSound Node and Qutest and it was superb
Sounds promising Ian, and sorry PeakMan I seem to have missed reading your reply!
Ideally, I’d prefer a one box solution for a source, but otoh as I like the BS app and stable platform is has proven to be so far, it’s easier to uprade by adding a DAC. (or try the Icon first) ![]()
So would I, but the Nait is on my desk in a small room used as a study and there’s not enough space for a permanent full sized streamer. The CD5XS is only a temporary resident in the room. I’m hoping a Qutest and small streamer from BlueSound or Wiim used as a bridge will fit the bill and be easier to accommodate.
The Nait 50 is addictive, though. I very much doubt you’d regret getting one. It’s a looker, too, if that matters to you!
Roger
You just used the right words, that certainly matter to me, Roger. ![]()
‘Addictive’ would also be a one-word description of my experience with the Nait 1 and 2 I had in the past and a wish for the Nait 50.
Also the "lively puppy dog” description sounds appealing to me. ![]()
Yes, I also think it’s a looker and it absolutely matters to me!
ok; here’s my 2p.
I had a brio mk6 in my home office. it was hooked into a WiiM ultra and my Dali Opticon 2’s.
it was really good, but the Dali’s just couldn’t be driven as well as I knew they could by the Brio. it was holding them back.
the dealer I bought the brio off had N50’s available at the discounted price. And offered to take my Brio 6 back at the current selling price att the time ! an amazing offer, so I took it.
the N50 arrived, I plugged everything in and it was next level.. Dynamic swing and punch that really drove the Opticon 2 mk2’s. Clarity and soundstage to behold.
I then considered the front end and just went for the NODE ICON blind based on AVForums content.
plugged that in and oh my dear lord, it was a step up again.
the synergy with the N50 is fantastic in my home office and the Dalis [although the weak link] sing with the set up.
I will confess that I am looking to change the Dalis but am in no immediate hurry.
Buy the N50 when its so cheap.
Upgrade other bits in time. I think that wee N50 is a bargain and although I haven’t heard a brio 7, I suspect similar to the 6. the N50 is head and shoulders more punchy and dynamic than the wee brio 6.
hope this helps.
I haven’t noticed any channel imbalance at low volumes to your earlier question on the Nait 50.
From a future investment point of view I’d get one over the other options, it’s got a really propulsive and insightful presentation. The tactile feel of the unit is also a plus point plus the superb headphone amp.
Thank you, it sure does help, The_Lecht-Rocks. ![]()
Also, I think you already know the answer to your question
Look at this way; what would be the point of investing in better speakers or an expensive source when your amp is only fair or middling?? That in my book would be wasting money. My advice get the N50 and you have tons of headroom and will enjoy along the way.
I’m 5 days running mine in and have to say I’m stunned. It is absolutely fabulous.
Do it.
Reggie
Plus the phono stage and headphone amp. What a brilliant amplifier…
I wonder if it was a labour of love internally…..
Fair point JohnnyReggie.
You do get that feeling. I thought that when @110dB was posting as the N50 was released. Very informative regarding the design. An absolute belter and probably a classic ![]()
For your listening preferences, similar to mine, the Nait 50 is an endgame amp.
Purchase the Nait then move on to your speaker and DAC/streamer upgrades when able.
Not imo… just do it. (-;
Hi Alco. From one apartment dweller and Nait 2 owner (former in your case)r to another, just want to say I’m pretty sure you’d be thrilled with the Nait 50 if you decide to pick one up. Channel imbalance at low volume is a thing of the past and that soundstage…wow!
I’m using mine in a smallish room with fairly low priced speakers and source (Falcon Q7 and Eversolo DMP-A6/Denafrips Dac and can’t see ever needing a better amplifier. And as an added bonus the Nait 50’s power light will also double as a night light in your home! ![]()
Bur seriously, I’m pretty sure buying one will be a decision you won’t regret. My Nait 2 CB has now joined my Nait 1 as a decoration piece in the listening room.
Looking good, Sandy. Over bright power on LED aside, it’s a cracker of an amp. Enjoy ![]()
Thanks! As Andreas move me mentioned, unless I win the lotto and have a big house and listening room, this is an endgame amp for me, at least until I can no longer get out of my chair and need a remote lol.
Hadn’t ever heard of the Q7 and now have tracked down some reviews and look like exactly the sort of speaker the Nait 50 would dance with, very interesting, thanks.
