Nait XS Pre-Out

Hello - Seasonal salutations from the Wild Atlantic Way.
I would like to use the pre-out function on my NAIT XS to provide signal to a Parasound Halo power amp.
(I’m using the parallel “sub-out” RCAs at present and it’s working/matching perfectly).
A buddy of mine will make up the interconnect for me but asked me for the pin-out config on the XS.
It’s a 5-pin 240* and it’s not specified in the owner handbook.
I have a spare snaic 5-pin 180* (In/Out) from the HDD so it’s a simple swap out for a 240* male Din job but I need the cofig. please.
Thank you -
Denis.

If you are using the NAIT XS without an additional power supply then you need to keep the link plug in place (otherwise there’s no power to the pre-amp) and use the RCA Phono “Sub Out” pre outs.

If you use the NAIT XS with a power supply, such as a Flatcap or Hicap then you would use one of the signal outs on the power supply on DIN4.

Thank you Richard.
So.
To clarify. On the Nait XS, I can use the power-amp in option but not the pre-amp out one, unless when using an external Naim ps.
Correct?
Wondering what the function of the pre-amp out socket is at all now. Surely not just to take power from power to pre ?
But then again… I’m often befuddled by British designed hifi .

If you connected to a Naim power amp with an onboard Preamp power supply then you would use that socket.

And to give the preamp audio signal to the power amp. It’s quite a simple but effective design as it allows the injection of “better” power ie 24dc from a separate psu ie hicap supercap etc by routing in/out of a separate box without disturbing the overall design of the amplifier.

Gottit… Crystal clear now - Thanks Richard. - D
