Growing up in the Anglia TV region in the UK we had a programme called ‘Portrait of a Village’. (This would be 40+ years back and is different from the Village Show.)
I’m trying to identify the theme music which typically came at the end.
I’ve googled but it don’t think the suggestion (Malcolm Arnold) was right and Shazam has so far been outfoxed.
There are a couple of videos on YouTube where the theme is there in the last few minutes (eg Houghton) but I’m not technically adept enough to work out how to share.
I’m not familiar with this show, but I did a quick search and found the following video on YouTube. You can hear the music playing over the closing credits.
If this is the music you’re looking for, it’s the first movement (Andantino) of the first set of English Dances by Malcolm Arnold. Well represented in recordings, most notably on Lyrita, conducted by the composer, and on His Master’s Voice, conducted by Charles Groves.
