Hi all is the nap200 ok with a nac72
Yes, a 200 will be fine with a 72. Will you be using a Hicap to power the 72? It’s certainly better that way, although if you don’t use one, the 200DR is a better option as it provides better power to the preamp than the non-DR 200.
As always, check the service history of the 200 or be prepared to have it properly serviced if/when needed.
It will work no problem as ChrisSU said a Hicap would be a great combo with the 72 and the NAP200 hang off the Hicap.
I had a Nap200 for years running off a 552dr and it was the most memorable fun amplifier combo I have ever had. It’s my favourite Naim power amp of all time, and I have had 250s, 300s and now 350s. Each are noticeably better, more controlled and detailed, but the 200 has bounce and big fun factor it’s like a fruity mini nap300 ( mellower than a 250 & 500 and not so in your face ). If I was doing it all again I would go nap200 and see how far I could push it.
Honestly you can’t go wrong with a nap200, easy and cheap to service, less to go wrong, last forever and finally everyone I have heard sounds the same, whereas I can’t say the same for 250s as I had many over the years on active systems purchased at the same time all having there own character.
Guys, please would you cool your enthusiasm somewhat for the NAP200. Some of us aspire to one, and would not relish a Naim forum induced spike in used prices when the time comes
I use the nap 200 with nac 282 and a single Hi cap DR.I also had the 250 and 300 DR ,but prefer nap 200.
Thank for replying lads might give one a try
I had one for many years. I never thought of it as a mini 300 and maybe that explains why the 300 was the NAP I coveted.
202/200 Napsc/Hicap much maligned by some but I loved mine it gave me a lot of pleasue.
Hi all have had my 200 for over 14 years and original Classic design. Great amp but I nearly killed it by asking the poor thing to drive Isobarik. Class A put all right with full service some time ago and the combination of 200, Hi Cap,102 and NAPSC drive my Q Acoustic Concept 20 to make every listening session fun and a joy.
Once compared to the 250 and the opinion was the 200 was too black and white in presentation?
Loved that combo as well and could have stopped there.
