Nap 250/NCS 222 overkill for the Kanta 2s?

I have a bead on a great price for the above referenced combo. Currently run Nova with my Kanta 2s.

Nova is great of course, but i now have the Hi-Fi bug–so is the 250/222 combo worth the spend for the Kanta 2s?

Yes, it is worth using with the Kanta 2s, and when you want to upgrade the speakers, you will have the amps to do this.

At the next level I would counsel you to do some demos, some great bargains to be had on the Old classic range and the jury is out on if the new classic is better.

If your Kanta’s work in your room with your nova then feeding them better electronics will give you more performance for sure. An ndx2 / supernait 3 can be had for c£6k and would work a treat with your Kanta’s. You would also have the option to add power supplies over time.

Of course if you have a thing for the new classic range do some demos.

Also, subject to your living arrangements, getting your system of the main ring and on a separate spur is worth doing as a fundamental if you are moving up a level.

problem is, there are no dealers in the state i live in. so having to decide based on the written word and youtube reviews.

thought about the sn3 and ndx5 combo too. but was intrigued by the new classic series.

Should be a great and balanced trio. Next a 300 ps, and you can stay like that. :+1:

Sorry didn’t realise that… if the Nova / Kanta combo works now then no reason why all other Naim boxes wouldn’t work. It becomes a budget choice thing.

The new classic range do look smart and sounded good to me but it’s quite expensive compared to what you can get for your money on old classic range.

Have a think about how much you want to spend but supernait 3 and ndx2 is a really good option but plenty of other ways to go. Generally the intergrated amps / source will be better than the Nova and the pre power combo would be better still.

The 222/250 is c12k so not cheap. I had a listen to it at my dealers last week with some PMC prophecy speakers - sounded good

I wouldn’t hesitate. If you can listen before buying, you should. But if you can’t, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I loved my Kanta 2s. They were fantastic with SN 2 and NDX 2. With a 555 PS DR on the NDX 2 and a move to 282/250 DR amplification they just shone all the more. So: I think if you like them with the Nova you will love them with the 222/250.

Overkill? Nope.

But, even if it were… what’s the harm in killing a fly with a sledgehammer every now and then?

Note SN3 now discontinued and no successor at the moment. There’s still dealer stock in the UK but not sure how things stand elsewhere.
