NAP 500 PS Switch Replacement

Hi All,

I see a few older threads on this, but nothing too recent.

After a few times of freeing off a sticky power switch, I now find that I cannot get it to switch off.

Took the cover off, sprayed cleaner, sprayed silicone lube, worked it manually, removed it from its bracket, but still it does not cycle the power.

Time for a replacement I think. Any leads on a good source for USA based owner?

Thanks,

John

@NaimNewb Given the system in your profile, why are you using a 500 PS unless you have another system not listed?

Did you try playing with the spring that’s within the switch? @NaimNewb

Worked for me @new

No need to spray any lubricant or do anything else.

This is the 500 ps switch, plenty on the internet.

I had been pushing it in and out with no results, but figuring I had nothing to lose, I pressed real hard and it seemed to free something up and now it seems fine again.

Rinsed with contact cleaner, blew dry and applied some dry graphite lubricant.

Fingers crossed this time it works for a few years.

Profile was out of date.

Glad it worked out

Still might be worth buying one as they are only 10 dollars……mine did exactly like yours, but then gave up the ghost.

How old is your 500?….mine is ancient…:scream: ….perhaps this is why they are recommended to leave powered on all the time

It must be coming up to 10 years or maybe more as it was ex demo. Interesting at HQ a couple of weeks ago, the Statement build area had a set of amps with a RMA sticker (service). Apparently they were the original prototypes used since for demo,s and checked against new builds periodically……..now need service. That would be about 15 years.
