Can anyone tell me if the power switch which is rectangular on the front panel, comes in through a round hole from the rear? on pictures it looks as though the internal part is round, and perhaps the rectangular front part is a push on?
One for @NeilS I think…
Not sure but I changed light bulb on 250CB no problem by flicking off light cover fascia gently many moons ago. Think I read how to do it somewhere maybe on this forum.
Testing your memory Dan but can you recall how the switch is secured to the case, after that cover was removed? Most switches are round through the case and then secured by a threaded nut or similar.
You don’t need to remove the case, carefully prise off the green diffuser (sometimes possible to do without the use of any tools) reach in with some long nosed pliers & gently pull the bulb/LED out. Very gently if it’s glass.
There have been a few different iterations of switches & bulbs/LEDs - might be an idea to post a picture of it next to a ruler & someone can then advise on availability.
This from Neil previously. I followed this advice.
I just gently took off light fascia and got bulb out easily. Don’t think there’s much behind it. I used my fingers to remove the fascia switch. No tools required.
Did the same on mine
Bruce
Thanks Dan. Not for a bulb renewal. I’m thinking of getting a new stick on fascia panel and am looking to see what hole needs to be cut. From what you say though I should be able to remove the front cover and have a look at what’s behind.
All I can say without breaking forum rules,
open it up and have a look,
Can’t remove fascia until switch is removed,
Class A should be able to fit it for you,
The idea is I would remove the switch. Apply the 3m vinyl fascia over the yellowing fascia, and then refit the switch. I just need to know the hole or cutout shape…
Look on eBay for fascia
Can buy new replacements,
Place vinyl on top of hole,
Use a scaple or knife around the hole
Another note,
Personally I would use the vinyl on top of the existing fascia,
Removing it, will leave glue residue,
And as vinyl being thin, it will show every bit of muck underneath it,
The switch requires a round hole in the fascia. As above, it cannot be removed before the six wires are desoldered & the lock ring unscrewed.
Regards
Neil.
Thanks Neil
Have you tried these?
No, only seen them,
I think I will give them a try on the 135’s I’m getting. All my other CB is white and these are the smoky yellow that happens on some.
When was your 250 serviced?
Only ask because I’ve seen 1 for sale,
Class A serviced, with new fascia,
Not mine. My 250 CB is in use and was serviced by Darran for me. This is for a 135 pair I have just purchased. I haven’t spoken to Darran yet butI’m hoping he will service these for me.
