Is this a new game?

No, missing a couple of leads.

So you had a 500 and sold it. Got a 250 and sold it. Got a 300 and sold it. Got another 500. Might it have been easier to have kept the original 500, or am I missing something?

The previous 500 was a none DR, this is a DR.

Ah. I’d suggest you get a set of tall Fraim legs. Put the 500 where the 552 is and then put the 552 on the top. The 552 will get the space it needs and should sound much better. It won’t be happy squeezed between a 500 and the Chord box. The volume will be easier to reach, as well as the whole setup looking much more balanced.

Thanks @Damien0 :slightly_smiling_face: I may purchase some medium legs but I’m leaning towards keeping the 500 on top.

You’re probably right, and it will bring the level in line with the right stack

It’s the best way to do it. You want the 552 on top. With tall legs you’ll still get to see the interesting top of the 500. With a medium level it would look unbalanced.

mate if I had the space I would have mine on top, just looks so good. I went with medium legs but im on one big stack

I’ll see how the setup performs over the next few weeks, then go from there. Hopefully, I will receive the XLR to DIN leads tomorrow then fire this thing up

I sadly don’t get to see the very nice industrial design of the 500 amp. It’s on the bottom level but really medium legs is as tall as I want to go, having a second Fraim stack next to it etc etc etc.

Countdown to what?

I think maybe this is on order but I don’t see a turntable…

The 500DR is warming up nicely, even from cold very impressive.

Need a longer Toslink cable hence why the Dave and Pulse aren’t centred on the levels.

Thanks for your kind words, Dan. I’m absolutely mesmerised by the way the 500DR sounds, its an incredible piece of hardware.

I may have rename this thread, not sure why I called it countdown, probably due to the several beers on Friday evening.

Need some pets & Hifi cats on it.

Then you’ve got Cats does Countdown.

It will get worse and then better as it settles in.

All well and good changing positioning of components, but need to keep burndies off ground. Might need some different legs to keep 552 on top of stack. These things are never simple.

Ideally 552 should be on top. Maybe empty shelf in each stack and build up from there.

I am sure you will work it out. Or leave it as it is if it sounds good.

Main thing is to enjoy your full 500DR system!
