Hi, I’ve just bought a NAC 102 on the ‘Bay, but the seller forgot to send the Narcom remote. (He’s sending it on separately). However, I’ve got two Narcom 5s and neither of them operate the Volume on the NAC 102. Reading on another thread, RD said that a Narcom 5 should operate a NAC 92R, no setting up required, so shouldn’t that be the same for a NAC 102?
If it’s a Narcom then it should work as all the olive and Classic preamps (bar the first 52s) use similar RC5 code sets.
Check whether the volume knob has pushed in to the fascia so it can’t move.
Thanks, Richard – does the NAC 102 need a source connected to it before the remote will work…?
It shouldn’t do.
Oh, well… looks like I’ve bought a dud. Absolutely no mention of non-working Volume remote in the listing
Don’t despair.
Sure the place you are getting it “serviced” can assist.
Have you pulled out the volume knob very slightly to see that it’s not jammed on the fascia?
If not using the optional NAPSC, is the ‘paddle’ link plug in place ?
Yes, a good point from Mr.Tibbs there. If you aren’t using a separate NAPSC you must have the paddle Link fitted, and power from either a dedicated HICAP or a suitable Naim power amp with a pre-amp supply onboard, otherwise the switching, IR, volume and balance controls will not work.
