My Streamer (ND5XS2) connects to the SN3 streamer input via a standard DIN cable. The SN3 receives power through a Hicap. I also have a turntable connected via the aux input with RCA cables. Dali Opticon 6 speakers.
Last evening while listening to music on Tidal the system went quiet. You can hear music if the volume is turned up past halfway mark but it’s muffled.
This occurred as I opened some video on my phone.
I played a record and it plays fine.
The streamer is on and connects to wifi as usual
I haven’t tried another input as I don’t dare to.
Any suggestions please?
Ram
I think you have to try another input before going any further.
Still a problem, then power off the ND5, remove the wall plug, reseat the Din cable a few times to ensure it’s clean, then startup the ND5. Perhaps also try Radio as well as Tidal.
In addition to trying another input on the SN3 as suggested above (and the power off), check that the ND5XS2 has not switched its output from DIN to RCA.
Sorry it took me long to reply.
I had turned the system off all night and reconnected. I have reseated the DIN, connected to Tuner input
Also disconnected DIN and used RCA
no joy
“ check that the ND5XS2 has not switched its output from DIN to RCA”
How do I do that?
Thanks in adv

It’s still set to DIN
When I changed it to RCA and connected to the SN3 via RCA the sounds back!
Does this mean the DIN is faulty ? Is it the cable or is the fault at the streamer end or at the Amp end?
And…
It sounds very different to that transmitted by the DIN cable. Lots more clarity and sharpness!
Thanks for that @robert_h I will.
As I said it sounds pretty good on RCA. I wonder if I will go back to DIN.
I found the very same with my Naim CDP as did others.
The Din path was deaf I’ve always used RCAs without problem I only tried the Din as it came with the CDP
None of the Din connections are faulty just very different.
I think I will use the RCA from here on.
I was trying to identify if the DIN failed at the streamer or the amp end to get it fixed. I will speak to Naim too as suggested.
Thanks all.
The most likely is broken relays inside the streamer.
Din ~> Din is technically better.
Or the DIN cable?
