ND5 sx connection

Hi all, thanks for adding me. I have bought a 2nd hand ND5 sx and a sx amplifier. Im new to Naim and was just wondering what the best way of connecting the 2 for the best sound quality?. Sorry if this has been covered before and i did search first :hugs:

Assuming you are referring to the ND5XS and a Nait XS, the former should come with a Naim standard din interconnect in the box. That’s more than good enough. If you want to investigate others, then stick with din. Chord, Tellurium and others make good ones.

I would just add that you should use an Ethernet cable to connect to the ND5XS. If you’re lucky you might get away with using WiFi but these older streamers really work more reliably with a wired connection.

Brilliant thank you. Difficult to connect via ethernet and the units are preowned and will need new din cables so which do i need?. Also, what is the best input to connect to.

Thanks in advance

Take a look on eBay, where you can find a good bargain. Connect to the tuner input on the amp. Have the green band at the ND5 end.

Try WiFi but I’d strongly recommend running a cable if you want a trouble free time.

Before splashing the cash have you double checked that a cable didn’t come with the streamer?

Im in the uk so ill have a look thank you. Might have to look into how i can run an ethernet cable. Cable is not with the streamer.

I hope it was you who bought it, as it’s now sold.

By the time i finished work and got home itd gone😞

Try asking the seller of the ND5 if they have the original cable? Naim include it in the price of the streamer, so it’s not unreasonable to expect it to be passed on to the new owner, but of course sellers often forget this.

Unfortunately, he no longer has it but found a lavender on Ebay for a good price so will give that a try. The advice about the ND5 and wifi was a good shout too. Ive placed the router in the same room as the connection kept cutting out and that solved it until I can connect the ethernet.

Got it running through my Roksan Attessa integrated for now and it sounds awesome

The lavender is all you need.

Quick update, ive now got the nd5 xs, power supply for said xs and the nait xs amp connected with a lavender and a ethernet cable into the router, running into Quad S1s using QED xt 40i wire on filled atacama stands and my god it sounds sweet.

Thanks all for your advice.

Now looking at trading in my Roksan attessa amp and the Quads for some different standmounts. Budget about 1200 including trade in in a 16x8 listening room. Any particular ones i should be looking at? :grinning:
