ND555 has 'died'

Hi there

I was listening to music tonight when my ND555 suddenly dies. The Power supply is on and the Naim Logo on that Power Supply is illuminated. On the ND 555 the small On/Off button is illuminated but nothing else , including the screen and the Naim Logo.

I have powered everything off and back on but to no avail.

Has anyone else experienced this?

All feedback and insight appreciated

Thanks

Terry Smith

Have you tried a hard reset? If this does not help you should contact Naim.

Is it visible on the Naim App?

If it is but no output, it can be that the output feeds got switched from DIN to Phono via a mains glitch and you get no output.

It could be locked in stand-by mode? I’ve just looked over at mine and I just have the top button illuminated, nothing else. Obviously, if I press the top button it all comes to life but I once had a similar issue where I couldn’t get it out of stand-by mode. I think I resolved it by doing the full factory reset i.e. turn off the power supply/supplies for around 20 mins the hold the two middle buttons down on the ND together and release them when you see the display start up. Might be worth a try? You’ll have to reinstall it like a new piece of equipment.

Hi folks , thanks for the replies. I tried the Factory Reset and sadly it didnt work. However this morning i did the following : !

I closed everything down including my network , Roon Server and the 500 System. I also disconnected the Burndy between the ND555 & the PS

I then rebooted the network and my Roon Server, and with those running and the 500 System powered on I then did the Factory Reset and this time it worked.

I have no idea where in the chain it got cleared but the good news is its working again

Thanks again for the help

That’s digital for you. Every once in a while it just decides to go nuts…
