ND555 Impressions

Thanks for the info, Thomas. Still, it would seem like an odd choice to me!

i asked more on the curiosity side. Even if it’s not intended and even interesting to use it as i proposed, it’s just to see how it can compare on the sound quality, upnp vs roon.

Absolutely. I doesn’t make much sens to use a Nucleus as an UPnP server, IMO. It would be cheaper to simply go for a NUC including the same board as the Nucleus.

There’s a review of the new ND555 in this months Hifi News from Andrew Everard and Paul Miller, which may well be of interest. It also includes a short interview with Naim’s Charlie Henderson.

Thanks for the head’s-up.

I’m enjoying my run-in ps and downs

When are you going to post them on the Connection page, Richard? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

That’ll be down to Naim and Hifi News. In the meantime, I recommend you try to buy a copy as there’s also an excellent retro piece by Tim Jarman on the wonderful little Technics SL-10 turntable.

6,99 euros, Hifi news app, digital.

I’ll wait a few more days and spare the few pounds for my next Qobuz download. :sunglasses:

good choice. Perhaps somebody will post it here in pdf…

Only with permission of Hifi News of course…

A comprehensive review - well worth a read (as is HFN). Interesting comments from the new MD too -

Our focus continues to be on producing the best sound. There is still plenty to do around making this easier to implement, from cables and interconnects to a simplified upgrade path. We’re having discussions about direction for the next ten years. We’ll keep that secret for now, but can’t wait to share more in due course!

Hmmn…that could be read as taking hatchet to the product portfolio which has been diminishing on the Classic side for some time.

Who knows - trim it down a bit, get the QC back to where it should be and i’m sure all will be well. I doubt things would change that much but it’s a delicate balance between alienating Naims core audience whilst bringing in new customers to the brand. Interesting times :slightly_smiling_face:

anyone wanna bet on the score?
88/92 very good
88/83 not bad
79/83 meeehhhh
anything under 79 really sucks…

When Charlie lays out his broad plan would be interesting to put it to a forum vote with the new website. Brave man?

Hi Bert,

Unfortunately I only had access to a screenshot from the “Hifi News Verdict” part which includes the final “Sound Quality” rating.
