ND555 Impressions

Somehow I didn’t expect it was Salisbury, never mind it’s pretty redundant anyway. A tablet or mobile will be just as far fetched.

Some care and expertise is needed to avoid problems. In Active things can go a bit bright and in Passive a bit dull in my experience both benefit from a good set-up and periodic tune-up.

I’ll admit that accumulated experience running an Active system has gradually informed me of all the ways it can go ‘off’ and I generally know how to resolve those problems - and the things that I use to fix the Active installation issues work well in Passive systems.

But the most obvious reason Passive is used is extra cost and space, as IMO all good systems benefit from a careful good install. I find it stays right for years at a time between Fraim rebuilds every few years - only have problems when entering completely new components (like the streaming stuff) that have their own installation quirks that are different and I need to understand and get right.

Do I need a different brundy for using 2 555ps with nD555?

No

So what I use for cd555 is ok?

Yes, although two burndies are provided with the ND555. Some people prefer to use their existing burndies, which are already run in.

Thank you it was a stupid question, I did pay attention to it

That was me!
I tried the new ones and thought - they sound horrible now and may be better when run-in - and I want pleasure now more than shiny new cable never seen behind the rack sounding good in a few weeks.

Run-in cables do sound significantly better - especially on source boxes I’ve found.

That’s what I always say.

Very true I had a nice day with Andrew and Ian at our local dealers yesterday, Ian will be here later with two large boxes for me to demo there contents at home for a few days!!!

I try to stay away. They’re buggers for selling things.

Please say hi to Ian.

I was talking with Iain earlier today. He’s been very helpful - I should have my system up and running again next week.

Anyway, please spill the beans - what large boxes?

Edit: I’ve just had a look at your profile - surely it must be a 552?

Ooh very nice! I’ve heard those at Cymbiosis on a couple of occasions. They punch well above their weight.

Clive, Harry I did pass on your regards to Ian, he spent some time tweaking the position of the T606s and they are sounding a bit good!!!.

They can be placed fairly close to a rear wall in my case they are either side of a fireplace and 220mm from the back wall.

Early days but extremely pleased on how they sound but also how they fit into a domestic environment. I will start a new topic and post some pictures.

Thank you. And best wishes for the speakers.

Harry, after listening to the speakers this evening I think it is more likely that my bank account will be requiring best wishes shortly ?
