I had assumed that for maybe 4/5 years and then I put a 552 in place of the 282 in almost exactly the same system as is being discussed here. It was like my hifi was reborn. I have enjoyed little upgrades and been deeply skeptical about others over the years but the pre amp swap out was biiiiiig.

Indeed the 552 is a fine preamp. I have owned all classic Naim pre amps from 282 to 552. I’ve now moved on from Naim amps (aside from Nait 50 in my second system).
The ND555 sounds superb in non Naim systems too (I use mine with my Sugden Sapphire amps).

Love it - I have been thinking about other options for driving the 803d4s what made you choose them?
I looked at Class A amps after I got my Marten Duke 2 speakers. The Duke 2s didn’t gel at all with my 552/300DR amps at the time.
I had the Sugden DAP 800 & FBA 800 amps on home demo and I was smitten. My Marten Duke 2s work so well with them. The Sugdens have a clean and more neutral presentation than Naim.
I’ve heard other Class A amps including Luxman 509x integrated which I was impressed with.
Also tempted by Pass Labs but staying with my Sugden amps for now.
