Good morning, for a few days on the ND5XS2, if I go to the network server and select my Synology HD or Western Digital MyClud, the disks are no longer inserted correctly because I had reinserted them. If I open the jazz wheel, you’ll find all the songs of every musical genre and, for example, if I open classical music I can’t find anything anymore, while the HD physically has a lot of stuff. How can I fix this so that everything is in order as I had in previous years?
Which upnp software are you using, and have you rescanned the music library?
Hi, on Synology I have always created several folders of various music genres under its main “music”. I have the normal Synology DSM 6.0 operating system while it has been telling me for some time that I can update to 7.0.1.
I also use another WD my cloud server where I also have folders here: Classic, jazz, country, rock, pop, etc.
You should look at the configuration of the UPnP/DLNA server that is running on your Synology NAS (I think it is called Media Server on Synology or whatever custom server you may have installed). The ND5XS2 just shows whatever the UPnP/DLNA server gives it. It sounds like the configuration of shared folders on the NAS is somehow messed up.
Hi, thank you for your interest. Yes, that’s the software. But the folders are well ordered as always. Already a few months ago everything was fine and I have never touched anything on the server for a very long time. Just two days ago I added Roger Waters live in Prague!
There is a ‘re-index’ function in Asset. If you haven’t tried it, let it run and see if it picks up the missing folders. If not, look at the file structure / directories and see if anything has changed.
If not, I think @Mike-B may be the guy to ask - he’s been super helpful to me w Asset in the past. Good luck!
I’m not so sure about me helping @Maury_Finkle, I’m just an ordinary Asset user, I don’t go playing around with it, so rarely screw it up to need to get into technical stuff.
@Sonoio I don’t really understand some of your language terms …
What are “disks” and “jazz wheel”
Can you confirm what UPnP/DNLA software you are using on the Synology.
Anyhow, I would run a reindex, or if you can’t do that then reset/reinstall it to get back to defaults.
AND if Synology tells you DSM-7 is available to you, then install it
As well as all that above, if it were me, the first thing I would do would be power everything off including taking the mains power off the ND5 XS2 completely for half a minute, then turn the NAS back on and when it has fully started, put the power back on the ND5 XS2. Also I would restart whatever it is that is being used as a control point (phone or whatever).
The usual way in which music servers work is to ignore folders and show music files according to the metadata attached to them. This allows you far more flexibility in browsing by genre, artist, conductor etc. etc.
Some servers including Synology’s do allow an optional folder view as well, but this does limit your flexibility, especially as you have your music stored in more than one location.
Hi. I just updated to DSM 7.1.1 update 9 ,
As a package I have
Audio station and Media Server.
Under I see available MinimServer that is not installed.
However, I no longer see my music folders divided by genre, and ‘ all of it chaos.
I don’t know if I’d like to delete the folders and leave the contents of these ( they’re music albums ) scattered under a single voice …. .
Update of 5:10 pm.
If I turn on the system with the Android phone app and select the servers, everything is fine.
So the problem is with the Naim Focal app on iPhone SE 2023 IOS 18.5
It has already been done to turn everything off
It seems that doing RIPRISTINA APP all went to place ….
Devil of an Apple
……
I also updated the synology that was still with the old DSM …. ![]()

Do you actually use Audio Station? Its designed to play your NAS files remotely (when not on your local (home) network).
To play on your local network (home - ethernet or wifi) you only need Media Server.
Think about uninstalling Audio Station, its a drain on CPU/RAM etc..
I think I’m using media-server
