When I search artists in the search option in the app, I get no results. My music is on a NAS. Does it mean the NAS tracks are not indexed for search? Or is something wrong?
The Naim app is not able to find or search files on a NAS as it does not have UPnP/DLNA.
It can search and play from a USB storage device, but not a NAS.
To search and play music on the NAS you must use your UPnP software, whatever that is (Asset, Minimserver etc.)
The search function will only work if the albums are stored on a Core or a directly attached USB drive.
You can do a local search of the album or artist lists in the Server input if scrolling through a long list is too much hassle.
The naim app search function is a bit lacking. It only goes looking at certain places, local music ( obviously not a NAS), radio and a music service such as Qobuz.
Thanks for your replies, all clear.
This will be the local search within the UPnP input on a 1st gen streamer (NDS?). That’s not the same as the global search which you can do from the app home page on 2nd gen streamers which cam search Tidal, Qobuz, iRadio, USB and Core, but not other servers.
But if I had a Nas, as the OP, would be the research through the Naim app still possible ?( with my Nds, yes).
Yes, but you are just searching a list that you have open on the screen instead of scrolling down it. Not really that useful unless you can’t remember the alphabet!
The global search I think you are correct, but if you open, servers, select your server and artists or any other list that list can be searched. Not really what you asked for, but usually I tend to keep playing my nas albums when I get started and then it is a minor thing.
