I feel that my NDX2 is behaving differently to how it did when I got it six months ago. The music, or rather the lack of connection between the Naim app and the player, is now a frequent occurrence. Often I have to ‘reset’ it by switching the network (wired) off and on again.
In other words, there’s no communication between my iPad app and the streamer. This happens especially when I’ve paused playback and then want to wake the player up again. I can wake it up and it shows me the previous artist on the iPad, but not on the NDX display. If I then try to start the music again or find another album, it’s also difficult. It freezes.
Strangely enough, I can find a radio station very easily on the Naim app. It also appears on the display. If I then switch to my albums, it suddenly works again and the artist lights up with the album artwork on the NDX display. If I choose to go to a new album straight after the previous one, it doesn’t show me the new artist on the display. Is this normal?
The sound is fine when it’s playing, but it’s more a lack of connection to the streamer or a lack of information on the display when I choose to switch from one artist to another.
Has anyone else experienced these ‘glitches’ with a lack of sound and connection to the streamer?
I haven’t compared it with Tidal Connect yet. If you think the symptoms sound like network-related issues, I’d be happy to look into the specifics of my network setup. As far as I know, it’s state-of-the-art, and I have Cat 6 cable all the way to the streamer.
Nothing has changed since the installation
Are there any minimum requirements for a router like this when streaming as I am doing here?
Often these kinds of problem are due to network issues. Clearly you have Wi-Fi which your iPad connects to, so it may help to understand more about your network, although remotely diagnosing issues isn’t easy. If we can rule out the network then the fault may lie in your NDX2, but I think this may be less likely.
Thanks, Fixit. I’ll try to look into how my network works in more detail and might get back to you with some specifications. So far, NDX has been stable for two or three days now. It happens in bursts, which might suggest that the network is unstable. If it were a fault with NDX2, these disruptions would probably be more frequent or more persistent – that’s my theory.
I have done that Entilzha, I don’t know if it makes any difference compared to cutting the power to my router for a minute…
My other issue is that new albums/artists don’t appear on the screen when switching to a new album. I’m sure it used to do that, and I can’t seem to find the cause in the app’s settings
