My NDX2 is only playing through one channel. My second source, my turntable plays through both which rules out a speaker (or speaker cable) problem. Before I contact my dealer and discuss how it might be returned to Salisbury, I will do a power off/on and I will replace the Lavender DIN interconnect between the Nait 50 and NDX2 to rule out the interconnect as a possible cause. Is there anything else I should consider before I contact my dealer about this?
Most likely the infamous relay issue on the NDX2, The RCA output will probably still work if you had another amp with RCA inputs to test it with (you will need to change from DIN to RCA in the NDX2 app menu). Presumably youāve tried another input on the N50?
Thanks @Hollow
Tonight I will try a different Lavender DIN interconnect (I dont have the option of trying RCA cables with the Nait 50 as you appear to have registered). I will connect it using the other output on the Nait50 and see what gives. I wasnāt aware of an āinfamous relay problemā with the NDX2. Presumably units with this issue have to be returned to the factory?
If you are in the UK then contact your dealer to arrange for it to visit the Naim service dept. From our recent forum visit I gather that the service dept. are super busy at the moment so sooner the betterā¦
I experienced it a few years ago. Only the left channel working as I recall. Went back for a repair to HQ, took a few weeks and has been flawless ever since. Frustrating at the time but Iāve recovered my love of naim ever since. Didnāt have much luck with my brand new 300DR which had to be fully replaced but again naim and dealer were relentless in trying to get it right for me. They did and I appreciated their dedication despite the frustration I felt. Iām now a lifelong promoter and enjoyer of their fabulous equipment and brandā¦itās encouraged me to invest further knowing the care they take for their customers. Long live naim!
Same problem with my nd555 couple years ago.
Sent to Focal Naim in Montreal (the only US distributor).
Took 6 weeks turnaround. Was broken relay.
Fixed free under warranty ( though I remember paying for shipping one way to Montreal ā¦.).
Worked fine ever since

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. Mine is still working. Would it be fair to say that the fault occurs in models produced before or after a particular model year or badge?
I have a 2018 NDX2, it worked fine until July 2025, then one channel went. Naim fixed it free of charge although it was already out of extended warranty, which was nice.
Now, 11 months later, it went again just 3 days ago . Assuming they didnāt put in a relay from the same batch as 2018, it doesnāt seem like batch specific.
I assume theyāll fix it again with no charge, but of course the rack crawling and taxi cost back and forth is still on me. I hope the next relay is reliable.
I recently had exactly the same problem on my ndx2.
When I spoke to my dealer he said āitās probably the relay on the din channelā
It was sent back to naim under warranty and the repair receipt stated exactly that. Relay changed and unit tested.
I bought my NDX2 brand new from a reputable Naim distributor who confirmed the streamer is 12 months out of warrantee and that the repair cost is Ā£549 or Ā£899 to service. My dealers response has been, ātry Darren at Class A Audioā. However Darren has told me he doesnāt do digital repairs.
Comments here and elsewhere suggest the fault is likely to be the relay. (I have tried swapping speakers, cables etc to rule out other possibilities). The following is from AI:
If you are experiencing channel loss, intermittent sound, or clicking noises on your Naim network player, it is highly likely you are dealing with a faulty relay switch on the internal audio board. Relay replacements require board-level soldering. Contact your authorized Naim retailer to arrange a repair, or send it to an official Naim Audio Service Center to get it fixed
I am not happy that the streamer has failed - a premium Naim product should last a lot longer than 6 years - and that I am looking at a bill of either £549 or £899. Is this really what I am facing to get this sorted??
Naim should really be repairing these FOC, thereās just too many relay failures for it to be acceptable, theyāre obviously very suspect components in terms of reliability, either that or Naim continued to use a bad batch. You need to have your dealer put pressure on Naim or contact them directly yourself.
I am very sorry to hear about your faulty NDX2 and also the most recent response from the dealer or distributor.
In the UK, there is something within consumer law that goods shall be āFit for purposeā. The time limit on such protection I think might be up to 6 years? Obviously the product design is older than six years, but you may have owned the product less time than that?
It seems to me that there have been enough failures of the DIN socket output relay in general within the user base that an argument can be made for āthe NDX2 is not fit for purposeā.
Perhaps try again using this argument with the original authorised Naim seller and get the repair effected free of charge?
PS. Along time ago I had a complaint regarding an Arcam product that, according to market information, seemed to suffer from a particular common failure. The retailer tried to upsell me to the newer model. I declined and suggested that the earlier model unit I had was ānot fit for purposeā.
I came away with the newer model at no charge to me and that unit never suffered any comparable failure.
Hi @Edmund-of-Essex
Thanks very for your helpful message above which I greatly appreciate.

@Richard.Dane - are you able to comment on this at all either here or in a private message please?
