NDX2 startup problems

Hello, many threads here about NDX2 start-up troubles. Thx for all the help so far in these fora. Having read them, my problem seems to be slightly different.

After start up (with the two variants of reset done, last one is PowerButton and StarButton pushed in, while inserting power line)
I’m now in welcome screen (for remote pairing) and flashing PowerButton in 2-4-10 pattern.

In router-overview NDX2 shows up; as connected (wired) as NDX2507104.

That’s it… stuck…

Any help is appreciated.
tia, Lammert

All you can do is pull the power lead out, wait a minute or two and then put the power on again. Hopefully it will power up properly. Otherwise you probably have a hardware error code and you need to either take it back to your dealer or contact Naim support for their help.

Thx David. Yes, that is true. Strangely enough, nothing is seemingly known about 2-4-10 flashing.
Thanks for your reply.

Naim don’t routinely publish the meaning of any error codes, so you may need to ask them directly, or through your dealer - unless @NeilS sees this thread in which case he may be able to help.

Thx Chris! @NeilS Where are you!!! :smiley:you are very much wanted here:folded_hands:

2-4-10 means that one of the front panel buttons is stuck in the pressed state.
This could be a mechanical issue with the button itself, or a hardware failure in the switch circuit.

Neil.

@NeilS Hi, after succesful and total recovery on Sunday, my NDX2 (+ XPS) played succesfully for three days. In mid stream, player rebooted spontaneously. Now powerbutton flashes **4-2-5 power button flashing: ** I understand that means Streaming board failing to initialise. Is that correct? And, if so, do you recommend hard reset? Thx, Lammert

Yes, 4-2-5 is a streaming card syncing issue. I would suggest running the NDX2 stand-alone with the link plug for a while & see if it behaves, to rule out any problem with the XPS.

Neil.

Ik, thx @NeilS. I got it up and running indeed without XPS. Will disconnect will try that strategy and report back.

Hi @Neils, followed yoyr suggestion. After inserting original powered (disconnected XPS, reconnected link-plug) NDX2 came back up properly and fully (no reset or anything). Will run that for few days and see how it goes, and then try XPS, see how that goes. Any diagnostics I can run myself on XPS? thx.

Thx @ChrisSU. Your pointer to Neil was very, very helpful. As you can see from the following messages. Thx again.

Probably nothing more, following forum rules.
What you are doing is a good way to diagnose which unit is at fault.

Neil.

Hi @NeilS , quick update. Ran 24 hrs uniterrupted with no problems. Re-installed this morning with XPS (powered via Audes). NDX2 came back up (not reset, etc). Now playing for 4 hrs without problems. Diagnostics all green. One other thing -and forget to mention earlier: XPS into Audes (sans dc blocker) normaly has Ifi CD Blocker+. I left that out for now. Thx.

Hello @NeilS, two weeks after interruptions with NDX2-XPS-Audes chain, happy to report that it is working without any problems. So far so good. I do notice some underruns every now and then, but that’s it. Lantham in the Netherlands has been great in advising wether or not to bring in NDX2-XPS for servicing. Only thing I haven’t put back in the chain is a DC Blocker+, as sound seems slightly more ‘open’ (could be auto-suggestion), and slight hum that was there before seems to have taken a holiday. Thx.
