Need a little help with Verdi Requiem

Brilliant!

You’re not wrong, but it’s interesting that the liner notes to the Shaw Telarc recording describe Verdi as approaching the Requiem text in exactly the same way as he would an opera libretto.

I can’t recommend the Telarc’s recording highly enough. Fantastic performance and the bass drum thumps in the Dies Irae will rattle your fillings if your system’s good enough.

Absolutely. The Telarc sound is superb, the performance from singers, orchestra and master choir leader/conductor Shaw, faultless.

Dear PeakMan,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I have pointed out in other posts that due to a number of workplace accidents and mental health issues from those, I now find myself on a government disability pension. We are lucky that we own our own home.

The income is meagre, and thus, I must rely on purchasing CDs and recommendations from members here on the forum. I do have a plan to sell my telescope and purchase an ND5XS2 as you have recommended, though the process is difficult to do. Though I will get around to it. My wife has said no more black boxes, though she did agree to the idea of selling the telescope in exchange for the ND5XS2.

Thank you for your recommendation of an ND5XS2 and a Quobuz subscription.

Warm regards,

Mitch in regional Oz.

I walked past a record shop many moons ago and saw this vinyl in the window, second hand, great condition. Rest is history.
