I am in need of two additional inputs for my 72 pre amp.
When I recently had a new AT cartridge fitted I was given back all the unused bits which included a bag of cartridge wires complete with tags.
Can I use these spare wires as link wires to make straight through inputs?
I was thinking of taking out the MM phono boards and the CD boards to create straight through inputs. The 326 boards are impossible to find so this might be a good solution.
Any advice appreciated.
Yes, this should be possible if you can’t source NA326 boards. Just link the same pins as are linked via the boards.
If you don’t use those boards ( no idea who ever used or uses still those 328 boards), then remove and link them out.
326 boards are the simplist boards ever, yet either naim never sold many or anyone who has them keeps them. If they appear on ebay, they go for silly money.
As is often the case, the simplist things fetch silly money years later.
Do you know which pins to link?
If not, i can send a photo of the inside of one of my 72s.
You don’t want to be linking out the power supply !
Yes please to the photo. The link wires I have are too short unfortunately. I need to source some. Any ideas where?
Probably easiest to make some up yourself or, if soldering is not your forte, have your dealer do it for you.
Give me an hour to dig out a 72 ( it’s in storage).
The link wires are easy to make. Just thin cable and two crimped connectors.
You can remake the links with soldered wire, but it is a bit inflexible if you want to put boards back in.
Perfect, thank you very much. Looks a very tidy solution.
Just don’t link out those other pins!
