Network issue Mu-So 2.gen

Hi everyone,

I recently received both a Mu-So QB and a Mu-So, both 2nd Gen. While the QB works perfectly, I’ve been experiencing network issues with the Mu-So. I’ve noticed on the forums that this seems to be a common problem, and I suspect my setup might not be ideal. Both units are connected to my Deco X60 mesh nodes via Ethernet cables.

The mesh nodes are set to their default, out-of-the-box settings. When I reset the Mu-So and power cycle it, the speaker usually connects to the network and stays connected as long as I leave it powered on. However, if I allow it to hibernate, it loses connection, and I have to reset and start the process over. Sometimes it reconnects, sometimes it doesn’t.

Given the cost of these speakers, I was hoping for a more reliable performance.

I’ve browsed through the forums, but I haven’t found a definitive solution yet. I’m not a network specialist, but I do have some basic knowledge. Can anyone offer advice on where I should look in my network settings to resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome.
Muso 2 works very well on my Ubiquiti wifi network; hardly a common problem, simply that not all networks perform as they should.
Is there a reason that you are not simply connecting your units by wifi?
Ensure that if your ISP router has wifi, this has been disabled.
Unfamiliar with TP-link Deco, but if network settings for that is your question, best to amend the thread title.
If you can’t find the setting, simply post asking Richard.Dane to amend it for you. Remember to @ in front of his name in your post.
If these are not brand new units, worthwhile to do a factory reset.

Make sure you don’t have double dhcp active ie your router doing it, and your mesh doing it. That could make your muso switch networks so you can’t always see it.

My muso 2 has never been great connecting to my network. After a year of ownership wifi became erratic. Then even ethernet stopped. A call to naim support told me it was not uncommon to have issue with the network bits of muso 2s. It has been working ok on wifi for a year now, but every so often requires power cycling so the app can see it. My nbx2, in the same room and on the same network is solid.

Thank you. I have now reserved the IP for the unit. I was able to get it up and running again today and have set it to never sleep. This seems to solve the issue, although it shouldn’t be necessary.

Thank you. Not much hope for the future then;-)

Thank you. Initially, I used Wi-Fi, but I switched to a wired connection to see if it would make a difference. However, the behavior remained the same, so I decided to keep the cable connection. The Wi-Fi works great, and all other devices on the network function without issues. My question is whether the Mu-So units are more sensitive or require specific adjustments to my network. I assume there is nothing wrong with the unit itself, but it may be a bit more “demanding” than other devices.

I bought my MuSo 2 three years ago. It is attached via Ethernet to the satellite of a NetGear Orbi mesh router. While I have experienced the occasional glitch - neither more nor less than my other networked devices - for the most part it has operated happily.

I also have a QB2, which I used via WiFi for half a year. It is now in storage. That one required the occasional AC unplug/replug, but nothing more than that.
