Of interest to all core users out there. A new software update today. We don’t see firmware updates very often…
Whilst Naim say the install could take up to 15 minutes to install it actually took just under 2 minutes.
Naim always says up to 15 mins, but 2-3 mins is more normal for the Core and is what I saw when I installed the beta on my Core.
Failed on my first attempt. I’m going to leave it for when I more emotionally stable ![]()
Yeah - worked after second try.
If you haven’t actually tried again yet, then I suggest that you do a power off restart of the Core before you try again. It’s important that you take the power right off and leave for half a minute (doesn’t need to be longer) as a restart using the front panel button doesn’t reset some of the basic software functions - I know this from long experience, although I don’t know why it’s the case.
Hi David.
I haven’t.
That’s really great advice. Many thanks.

I updated yesterday to 2.5.8 (4069). Today it says that is the one installed but that there is an update available to download and install to 2.5.7 (4059). ![]()
Mine has been bugging me (lying actually) to update for a few weeks. Every time though it found nothing, until today.
It’s now updated ok, but it knocked out my DNS settings entirely and I had to enter the google all 8s.
It seems to have sorted itself out now and it has decided that 2.5.8 is in fact the latest version after all. Took a few hours though.
That’ll be your network. Nothing to do with the Core or the update.
No, the DNS on the Core’s network settings, not my network.
Well in my opinion that just illustrates the folly of not using the default of DHCP in home networks.
