Thomas, could you contact Naim support and then let me know your ticket no. It seems to be fixed but if you’re still having issues then it may be something else (possibly server?) that’s the cause here. Thanks.
I have had a couple of reboots (that I know of) since the update. Similar to the last one tbh. No better anyway. Not the biggest issue in the world as it just cuts out and about a minute later its on again but it would be better without I guess.
Hi @Richard.Dane,
I think Naim’s already aware of the situation. IIRC, you mentionned that Naim is monitoring the thread.
I reported, a few weeks ago, in this very thread, a couple of random reboots and so did @NigelB .
@Steve just reported another couple of reboots, and a few other members as well.
As for the potential server related cause, it could indeed be the case. But I very much believe it is not.
I use an Intel NUC with Roon Rock. Pretty simple.
My home network has been the same for the past 2 years. With no issues.
I could, perhaps, add that I have the needed knowledge and experience to build a solid network and monitor its traffic, and the behaviour of each host connected.
I know, by experience, what a random reboot means (in terms of software mess) and how difficult it is solve, especially for embedded software.
Considering the issue, potentially, impacts all NDxxx streamers, I very much believe Naim is already working on it
It has fixed some, maybe most, but certainly not all. There never was just one cause
It does appear that a few people are reporting reboots now who didn’t experience them before the 3.6.0 update, so that is quite odd.
Indeed
Why is that odd?
Yeah I also experienced the reboot topic. It’s 100% related to the ND555 and it’s firmware. As it’s more people reporting it, it would be nice if Naim finally also solves this one.
It could imply that new triggers for reboots were created with the latest update, while one of the goals of the update was to fix them. It might also just be coincidence ofcourse, since some of the reboot scenarios seem to be quite rare, so it could be just a matter of bad luck/timing.
Yes, it is also conceivable that some users have become aware of the issues lately and are reporting misbehaviours that they had not noticed before. Anything goes!
I still continue to experience this on the analogue connection where I have attached my turntable. And it started since the update. It is very annoying. I have tried to reset the Nova but still the bug persists. Have you managed to find a solution?
One thing I dont understand is that everytime an update is releassed there is a change in sound quality and there are always bugs. Every single time. This is so annoying.
I updated ND5XS2 today.
Just clicked to do it and came back an hour later and it played perfectly since then.
And it sounds great.
Yes, even better depth of bass, and more body to instruments.
Very happy indeed.
Thank you, Naim.
The Nova is currently back at Naim having the rotary volume control replaced and the analogue no-sound problem is on the please fix list…
Just had my first random reboot on my ND555 since the 3.6.0 software update. I did the update as soon as it was released and it fixed the screen freeze issue I had. But on this evidence, random reboots are still a thing.

This is one of the reasons why I do not like Naim’s operating system. It is a non-transparent conglomeration of open source and proprietary components which gives end users zero information and no control: one can start a system update or leave it pending, but one is not told which components actually get updated and one has no option to undo updates. Neither transparent nor user friendly.,
I tried for the first time since a while my Nova with the Naim App and the SQ is quite good compared to Roon (with 3.6). So I can’t say anymore that the 3.6 is faulty, as it can be the compatibility with Roon that is problematic.
For all the persons who are experience SQ issue with the 3.6, you can try the Naim App to compare. For me it’s day and night.

If I may ask, is your Roon Server connected to your Nova?
Hi Thomas. No, my server is a Mac mini connected to a router and a Synology Nas.
