New firmware update

Hmm. Might see if the dealer can procure one!

Its not particularly in depth or gives you more than common sense. It does say to toe them in and to have some minimum distance from side walls not much else.

The good thing is you now know what the source of your problems are (thatā€™s the biggest battle) and youā€™re now sorting those things out. It must be so frustrating when it feels like itā€™s one thing after another. Iā€™ve been in a similar situation myself when my system just wouldnā€™t sing no matter what i did with it. It was a sharp learning curve for me for sure, as in my situation it was just down to mainly lacking in experience. I hope those days are now far gone. I do feel your pain. It will all come good in the end, just hang in there. Onwards and upwards.

That is Why i kept my cd555:)

Are updates automatically applied ?

If not Iā€™ve no one else to blame really.
I would usually hang back on my Mac, read for any potential update issues a week later and then apply the update if all was ok. Guess I should have followed the same mantra here.

My setup is wired/DCHP I use the iOS app and have had sound dropouts over two days and a non user system restart (kernel panic ?).

No, updates to Naim streamers are not automatically applied. They have to be initiated by the customer.

Funny you should say that, I know any upgrade for work or my home PCs we generally wait at a few weeks before a major upgrade. That way if thereā€™s any bugs itā€™s no concern. But we all seemed to rush in without hesitation. Weā€™re funny people.

Just to add to the list my Uniti Star, which has been factory reset and unplugged after 3.5, sometimes fails to enter standby mode correctly. If I feel the case after it has been in standby mode most of the times is is cool (cold) to touch, but when the bug strikes it is warm to touch, as though it thinks server mode is enabled (not ticked in the App for me) or there is a memory card or USB drive connected (nothing connected in my case).

I also had music stop playing mid-track from my NAS. I selected another track and it started playing again, however it paused for a long time before playing the next track, after that it seemed OK.

Do you have something connected via HDMI?
As I learned, this is yet another way (next to those you mention) to keep the unit ā€œwarmā€: when itā€™s watching the HDMI input. (Depends on settings, wether it does: not at all, if active/last input, irrespective of active input.)

Hmmā€¦ just had my first reboot on NDX2, since firmware upgrade, whilst streaming from Qobuz.

Tell a lieā€¦ not streaming from qobuz but from my local Asset UPNP server, using Roon.

My nova updated fine without issue, SQ does seem more detail but sometimes a little bright with some tracks. I only stream from tidal. The one thing Iā€™ve noticed so far, is it doesnā€™t turn off anymore via hdmi arc when I turn the tv off , it used to turn on and off with the tv without issue but now only turns no?!

Have you reported the issue to Naim support?

No, I donā€™t have anything connected to my Uniti Star (part from the mains and speakers).

@Richard.Dane if you are looking for Beta testers, I would like to volunteer. Even though my Atom is running stable on 3.5 at this time, my setup could be a nice testcase for future firmware upgrades.

Noā€¦ though it looks like so many people on this thread are experiencing it Naim must be very well aware of it by now. Today was the first time for me since the firmware upgrade was i stalled on the first day.

OK great. Please email Naim on beta@naimaudio.com and ask to join the beta group, giving details of your system.

I hear from Naim that R&D are gathering info via Naim Tech Support re. the random re-boots and any stuttering. However, so far there havenā€™t been that many calls or emails in this regard so, to that end, it would be helpful for anyone who is experiencing or has experienced random re-boots or stuttering since updating the firmware to 3.5 please contact Naim Tech support, as R&D will work from the logged support calls, and, with so many varying streaming and network set-ups, the more instances they can examine the better opportunity for a universal fix.

For quick reference; for help with all Naim product installation and operation please use the following details:

One for the good news column!
Since getting the ND555 in April Iā€™ve suffered a weird issue of random track sequencing - basically, play from track 1, but Instead of moving on to track 2 it might play me track 7 or other random choice. I started a thread on this to see if others had similar experiences, but only DarkeBear reported anything similar.
Anyway, fingers crossed, but Iā€™ve not had this happening since the 3.5 updateā€¦:crossed_fingers:

@Richard.Dane @Naim.Marketing

Just sent an email to support explaining the issues Iā€™m experiencing with 3.5 firmware, hopping support will be able to fix the problem.

Richard, youā€™re on CC.
