Yes, I bought it on eBay. I paid £110 plus postage for it, and it’s in pretty much mint condition and works perfectly. So much nicer than some bit of modern disposable plastic junk. It’s purely down to luck of course; Richard recommended it and there just happened to be one for sale. There is a lot of rubbish on eBay and 90% of the sales are from traders, but amongst it all are genuine personal sellers moving on some really nice things.
I got mine from eBay a while back. Top piece of kit. They are often listed for sale from Japan. Mine certainly came direct from there.
Yes, 5 up at the moment, all from Japan - but more costly than HH or I paid.
Probably only four now, as I’ve just bought one, which will be part of the gift with my son’s Linn LP12.
And, yes, it did cost a bit more, but what the heck.
That’s good, Graham! Richard was right - it’s a really nice device. Very pleased with it.
I’ve still to calibrate the neat little manual Garrard gauge I also bought, but that was more of a curio buy…and not much money!
I have to say that I am extremely happy with my Solstice. Far better than my LP12/Lingo/Cirkus/Trampolin/Itock/Karma and my Oracle Delphi MkII/SME309/Klyde/McCormick PS turntables. Have yet to try it with the Superline because the whole package sounds great as it is. Definitely the last turntable that I will purchase and will be selling the others off.
Was very fortunate to be one of the lucky few to receive the Solstice early and yes, have been muted in the description because not everyone has had a chance to hear or receive the one they have ordered. As Richard has mentioned, too engrossed rediscovering my LP collection as the playback is so very pleasing.
The truth is out there Clive!
It looks really good Matt and certainly fits in with the rest of your system. Congratulations.
I could not be more happy to a) see your Solstice in situ and b) hear that you’re loving it. HURRAH!!
One small point re the phono stage/power supply - from both a sizing and technical perspective, they are designed to sit alongside each other, whether that’s on a Fraim rack or elsewhere. So you’re fine there.
Great system.
Looks great… except for… ‘that’ platter…
It’s a lovely looking music room Matt.
Honestly - I’m not the first to say it, but in a real room setting with other proportionately sized objects around it, you really don’t even give it a thought….
It certainly looks far better from a distance. I’m so pleased that the waiting was worth it and that it’s all worked out in the end. That’s a new cat to me, and very lovely too.
Never mind the sound, is it cat proof?!
That’s Lenny …he’s a Maine Coon - 7 months old, 7 kilos… They get to fully grown when they are 3 years old …he’s adorable. My wife wanted a “ginger boy” - I told her she already had one 👨🏼🦰 …but she pointed out the older I get the sandier I become, and I probably didn’t qualify anymore.
(You can see his handiwork there on the footstool by the way - a bit of Tan shoe polish works wonders however )
He looks quite the proud Naim owner in this shot. Handsome cat, handsome hifi!
He is absolutely lovely. I miss having cats around but we go away too much to make it practical at the moment.
