New from Naim – Solstice Special Edition turntable

Post as many times as you like, it still looks like a saucepan… maybe a dinner plate is a better look?

Are you not using the Solstice phono stage?

I am. It’s on the other Fraim rack.

The phono stage is below the tt. The PS is on the right.

Naim says they are fine next to each other so I could move the PS.

So what’s the other box?

Good to see, Matt.

Now it’s just a matter of packing all that off to Sweden. :flushed: Which to me would seem quite daunting, but I am sure you have a plan.

It isn’t.

Saucepans, dinner plates, hahahaha, oh it’s so funny, this belongs in the jokes thread. Please take it there.

Do we know when component parts of the Solstice will be marketed separately?

I shall be fascinated to read comparative reviews of the ‘old’ and the ‘new’ ARO.

I’m hoping, for the sake of my bank balance, that there isn’t a ‘night and day’ difference in the new one’s favour (although I certainly don’t imagine that the old will better the new).

Without going back over 3500 plus posts…did we ever get an answer on why this TT was limited to 500 rather than a regular item to buy?

The complete Solstice Special Edition package- including turntable, phono stage, power supply, accessories kit, book and vinyl - is limited to 500 units as a collector’s edition.

@anon70766008 No decision yet on whether separate elements will be available - the priority right now is to complete those 500 orders.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I guess if it makes business sense then yes. If not no. Obvious stuff I know. I’m sure there are plenty of conversations going on as to whether a TT fits the future and, makes good business.

I’ve owned my Solstice for almost six weeks now. It’s a terrific turntable. In it’s SE guise it’s very clean and tuneful. If pushed to find any limitations I’d say that it’s maybe slightly lean sounding.

I am speculating now, until my new Supercap arrives to power the Superline, but I have a feeling that the cartridge and phono stage are the least impressive parts of the chain. The turntable and ARO are extremely well made, with the ARO clearly a superior build quality over the mk1. It’s a great “Roy George” design IMHO. It’s surely going to be significant that the Solstice Power Supply, currently powering the Solstice motor and the phono stage, will be “freed up” to only power the motor.

I will be pleased if my gut feeling is proved correct because the cartridge and phono are so easy to change, and I have ordered them having taken advice from people whose opinion I respect. Report back hopefully soon.
