Mine arrived today, thanks!

Ok bought a Lyra kleos and now have it fitted and running in. I have a Brinkmann bardo and the solstice so tried it on both. I think I marginally prefer it on the solstice but there is not a lot in it. As you would expect it is more about the style of presentation vs one being better than the other. One thing I can certainly say is the kleos is better in every way to the equinox for me (as you would expect given the price)

Fitting was easy, though it does sit quite far back in the head shell it is not far enough back to foul the pins. Counterweight is a much tighter fit than the original and does not feel like it will drift like some found with the old one.

Thanks again to all at Naim for getting the issue resolved.

Thanks for the report and photos, @Ryder35 !

What did you do to ensure proper alignment? I’m rather afraid of that process

A good protractor helps, interestingly using this overhang is shorted than the Naim protractor, but let’s not go there again!

And how did you know/decide which geometry to use?

Pretty much random🤣 I went with the middle one (baerwald)

Baerwald is a pretty standard geometry and a good choice to use for most things.

Has anyone in the States received their weight? Not I . .

Me neither…
:weary:

Nope!

Hey strangers - I can loan you guys my vintage, original, collectible, Aro Heavy Counterweight🤣

I think it is the light one we need

Naim UK report that the weights were dispatched to Focal Naim NA (they could not ship direct to us US-located individual customers) and have been received there and thus should be in our hands perhaps next week.

I accidentally damaged the stylus, which now requires a full replacement of my equinox cartridge. After reviewing last posts here I didn’t quite get if there are any valid alternatives to the original cartridge. I’ve seen a post with Lyra kleos cartridge, is it an easy fix or requires manual tweakings in the setup? Any other cartridges which should fit well the setup or should I go for ordering a fresh equinox form Naim instead.

Your cartridge options depend on whether you replace the counterweight. If you don’t, you have rather few options because you need a rather heavy cartridge. I don’t know what the options are other than another Equinox from Naim. I find it to sound quite nice in my system.

Naim have now made a replacement counterweight which your dealer should be able to get for you, or you can get yourself if you reach out to Naim support. You’ll see posts here describing this. If you use the new counterweight, it should open up a much wider set of options for cartridges. Again, this is all a factor of the weight of the counterweight vs. the weight of a cartridge that’s compatible.

I’ve started a thread here a few months ago asking people to post their experiences with replacement cartridges, but it’s not really populated with info yet.

I broke my stylus recently as well and purchased a new Equinox. A week later the lighter counterweight was announced. I like the Naim cartridge so I’m not disappointed, but with the new counterweight there’s a wide variety of options.

I’m a Lyra fan and hope to get the Etna SL. Seeing how tiny and thin the Equinox cantilever is it won’t be long until I break it (again).

I wonder if there is a trade in allowance for equinox.

I hope you get them soon.

If anyone from Focal Naim North America is reading this forum – now’s your time to shine and show Naim fans on this side of the Atlantic that you’re worth a damn. Everything I’ve read on this and other sites in recent years has been brutal and I wouldn’t want to buy a new Naim box as a result.
