Latest Autocar shows Jaguar electric prototype.
Very, very different to everything on the market looks wise.

The production cars will likely be very different.
This phase is more about brand awareness/engagement/clicks.
Looks like an air conditioning unit to me
Just proves that, as in many industries, so many manufacturers new products are now driven by their âCreativesâ departments rather than anyone who understands and acknowedges what it is that potential customers want to buy!
Still, only ÂŁ75,000 & not the ÂŁ100,000 everyone has been quoting.
Wait a moment, my mistake. That is the annual insurance premium for all the 18 year old buyerâs they are hoping to attractâŚ
Jaguar had to do something bold and different, because it is dying as a brand. From the re-badged Mondeo X Type of the Ford era to the uninspired XE and F Pace etc they just havenât kept any market share, and make no profit. The traditional âJagâ buyers are a generation too old. The brand missed out on âcool Brittaniaâ and their visibility in the US has tanked. Reliability is an issue, although that doesnât seem to hold back Land Rover/Range Rover.
I guess it was either do something radical or let it die. Personally I canât imagine a move upmarket working any better but at least they are trying. The concepts are truly awful to my eyes though. Look like GCSE design coursework.
I suppose the fact is we are at least talking about the company. When you consider they wonât have any cars to sell for a year I guess that is a marketing win.

After recent âpublicityâ I wouldnât go near this brand if you paid me

Would you have done before?
Must admit I canât understand the rebranding. No cars at present, all new cars in a bit, new clientele and pretty much telling the old clientele to f*ck off. Why not just start a new brand a la Tesla and flog the Jaguar name? Where is the value in trying to drag the Jaguar image so far away from where it currently sits?
I know itâs only a concept, but that is hideous. It looks clumsy, heavy and slabby. In profile itâs not too bad but the front is cut off and looks too short. Compare it with the profile of the Rolls-Royce Spectre, another heavy, slabby EV, and the latter looks rather elegant. The Jag concept looks even more jarring in that Barbie pink colour.
It looks fine to me.
Iâm sure it will look different when viewed from a more natural angle, not the perspective of a 3 year old child. Or flanked by a couple of leggy models, giving a visual clue to its actual size.
I like the large, level bonnet, gives the impression it houses a large powerful mechanical engine, which of course, it doesnât.
Donât forget, nobody will be forced to buy one.
Iâll ask my grandson what he thinks of it tomorrow, whose views are actually relevant. Iâm sure heâll think itâs fantastic (one of his favourite words at the moment).
Well, to buck the trend, I think that could turn into something visually decent and maybe even a 21st century E-Type vibe eventually. Though I admit that it lacks the sleekness there, a lot of cars seem to be moving in a chunky direction. It depends on how they develop it I suppose. Something had to give anyway.
Itâs atypical concept, with unnatural proportions e.g. those wheels with massive rims and low profile tyres will ride very hard, and those skirts wonât survive any sleeping policemen/other road humps. Plus, stuff like the brake discs have to be ventilated. Itâs all noddy stuff.
Maybe that configuration only applies at high speed (for performance). At low speed maybe the underside at rear, front and side is raised up. Certainly looks a possibility from this photo.
Might look different when itâs parked on your drive.
From a designers perspective, itâs very interesting.
Fan assisted cooling?
Dollars to doughnuts, whatever new product emerges, it wonât look like these images. And why use fans, which add weight and reliability issues (to name but 2), when you can use free airflow.
Well maybe the air is ducted to the brakes from grills at the front.
It reminds me of those DMAX American garage TV programs where they often chop the roof, and slam the bottom low. - Watch out for those UK speed bumps.
